I was watching a video on YouTube the other day where they discussed the best movies that people have probably never seen. The very first movie listed was Four Lions. I've only ever seen a short clip of Benedict in it, so I have no idea what it's about. They said it's a comedy about terrorists, and it's really timely with what's going on in the world right now. They never mentioned anything about Benedict being in it, but I know he is. I've never bothered to look for it because I have't heard much about it, but if it's supposed to be that good, maybe I will now!

They said it's a comedy about terrorists Huh. I've never seen Four Lions - Benedict scenes or otherwise (it fits "people have probably never seen" very well...) - but now I'm intrigued. I'm a big fan of inappropriate comedy when done well. I've no idea if 4L is "done well" or not, I'll have to look into this now.

Yes, it is well done. I saw it when it was on Amazon Prime. It's rather heartbreaking in a way. Ben's part is very small, but he's funny. It's worth a viewing if you find it somewhere for free.

I have heard nothing but good things about this film. You are correct - it isn't one that most people have seen, I'll bet. Like it has been said, BC's part was very small but very funny!

It's a great satirically movie. BC is just in one scene.
It's politically incorrect, esp. for these times in which people don't seem to understand satire AT ALL. If they would have did this movie these days I'm sure we would have a few Twitter storms. Such a shame because it's very smart and about the ridiculous weakness of men with an extremist agenda.
The horrible attack at the end is similar to the Boston marathon attack so it really can be shocking to see those scenes played for laughs (the movie was filmed earlier) but satire more often than not is very cruel. Just read A modest proposal! The honorable message is always hidden inside the cruelty.

I do understand satire, but if there is an attack portrayed - especially if similar to a real one - I am not sure I could deal with that. So I found BC's part on YouTube. It was funny, I agree - especially when he steers the conversation to women. Was the phrase he kept saying more loudly about Waj's preference (not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it) some sort of code for the others of his profession (again, not to spoil it, but I was surprised to see what type of job BC'c character was doing)? He kept saying it more as if directed to those outside.
Boy George, tho LOL! Always did love BC's slightly androgynous appearance....

They didn't portrayed the attack. The attack is very similar to an attack that happened years after the movie. I understand if some sensible people are affected by something that it's very similar to the real thing so soon.
Still it's about terrorism but it didn't make fun of victims or the suffering but extremism and the stupid way extremists think.
I sincerely think some people esp. in countries like the U.K. or the USA would equal extremist islamism (an ideology) to everyday Muslims (people) and accuse the movie of being racist. They are lefties but with a very similar way of thinking than extreme right-wings. That's the kind of people I accuse of not understand satire.

Yeah, not to get too political but I've seen this so much and it bothers me. Even the word "Islamophobia" that the liberals have adopted and throw around, well, liberally is not much better than right-wingers when it comes to sentiment. Both reduce over a billion Muslims to just their religion. That whole term is imho reductive and detrimental and needs to stop. Muslims =/= "just Islam" - both liberals and right-wingers need to learn this.
