Scorsese is friend and mentor of the director and shared a credit as executive producer with BC and Adam Ackland. It would be interesting if critics are more welcoming to it with the changes. At least I hope they have an open mind.

I have seen articles about how awful this Oscar campaign is this year. There are accusations everywhere against almost everyone: movies and people are all racist, homophobic and sexist. Maybe Weinstein is not in Hollywood anymore but his style of promoting films is there and worst than ever. These producers seems to still have faith in this film and August is not that bad date, especially for a movie that supposendly is being abandoned but an Oscar campaign for this should be extra polemic! If that's possible!

Not just polemic in the legitimate press, the "Burkle connection " will send the nutters like Aeltri into a tizzy!
I just want this movie to see the light of day (and an opportunity for me to see it)!
August sounds good.

On one hand I hope someone buys TCW distribution rights.
On other hand why Glasser?
The Upside another TWC movie with Kevin Hart and bad reviews has been released and already made 46 mi. I don't know if there were nnews about it being a TWC movie. I just read a Forbes article that just says it was controversial because of Cranston playing a disabled person and because of Hart. No mention of Weinstein.

I don't think general audiences care too much about Weinstein connections. It's just social media and press. The same with Hart and Cranston playing a disable person.
The issue with Glasser was mainly the accusations during the fight between him and Lantern Entertainment for the rights of the series and movies. Ironically, Lantern still has the international rights,

Who is Ron Burkle, and why do the nutters care about him?
I wish the distributor were a company with zero ties to HW. Otherwise every article will just talk about him again.
I hope re-cutting and editing helps. I don't remember the complaints being that it was too long (easily fixed) but that it was too music-video-looking stylistically (not easily fixed if it was filmed that way and not post production effects.)

Well to b sure the connection will always be tenuous if we are looking at reasons for Aeltri and her ilk to have a hissy fit over, but AFAIK Burkle is someone who owns Soho House hotels/clubs - a favourite spot for Meaghan Markle and Prince Harry both in TO and London and the TO hotel's manager is a good friend of MM.
As well, Sophie Hunter's father was (is) employed there as a professional bridge player.
Nothing out of the ordinary except if you're the "out-of-your-gourd" crowd who see all sorts of child slavery/sex trafficking/satanic ties and conspiracies coming from these few innocuous facts.
Oh, and BC has also frequented the London Soho club (and in other locations) because it caters to well-heeled clients that come from the creative arts.

I don’t remember anything about the length, but I liked the quirky way it was filmed. I remember some people dreading the usual period piece, but there was nothing usual about this. I think the visuals and sounds fit what the movie was about.
(Yes, I now remember that some of the few reviews mentioned that all the fancy effects were just there to distract us from a bad movie!)
