Sorry, but no, the tweet is clear: And I said I have nothing against Phoenix' choice.

Also nominated for the DGA
Well! That is really different! I didn't see all of the movies but I liked very much The Last Black Man in San Francisco. Very good, much better imo, to the Tarantino movie. Meaningful.
Love that Baumbach and Gerwig aren't there. Marriage Story super overrated. I hope I'll change my mind with LW.

They could have nominated more British actors too like Tom Burke or Cinthia Erivo (poc) whose acting was very praised.
One of the most acclaimed British pictures of the year, The Souvenir, wasn't nominated not even as British film. On the other hand poc is getting broader every time. Antonio Banderas is now poc. Spanish and Italians are poc, I guess. Greek possibly too? I hate that term. Awards are very weird. And they are like an echo chamber. The best thing to do with them is not care about them. Anyway, sometimes is fun to follow them. They ALWAYS ignore local talent when they don't have a chance to be nominated for the Oscars! I have always seen them like an organization desperate for the pre-Oscar publicity. So their only function is to predict who will be nominated for the more important American award. Agreed about awards. I just found ironic that an association as the BAFTA that did a big fuss announcing they will castigate productions that aren't diverse enough (without a clear definition of what they consider being diverse) begining with their TV section this year thought it was good idea to nominate actors twice reducing the possibility of you know, more diversity! It shows how too many of these woke policies are just superficial and directed to judge others but never to themselves ( again the Oscars are shitty but you could understood what happened those two years with only white actors nominees, this time they nominated two actresses twice. The fault is totally in their own rules that permitted things like this happened!) And about Gervais, I think people are exaggerating things. I have seen some Conservatives and Centralists celebrating him as some kind of folk hero for "offending" in such a way to the "Hollywood elite" but they forget not just that he is part of it but also that he is just joking! That's his work! For example he is an extremely vocal animal rights activists and he had said at least in one interview that he believes celebrities should talk about politics. Also I'm sure a lot of celebrities there enjoyed his act! It's crazy but this kind of comedy wasn't taken in such a literal way a few years ago! It was just Hollywood making fun of themselves!

Ricky Gervais has always had the same “act” when hosting award shows - and he’s great at it. He’s harmless. His targets either totally deserve it (like Harvey Weinstein), or are huge enough stars that he can’t possibly cause them any harm (like Leonardo DiCaprio). He mentioned in his monologue that he didn’t know how he got invited back after Kevin Hart was fired from the Oscars for being offensive. For one thing, Kevin Hart isn’t funny (to me, anyway), so it’s just as well that he was fired. And besides, he truly was offensive, while at the same time not being funny, and refused to apologize or even explain himself when the Oscars asked him to.

I think it was Gervais who said something really nasty about Ben Affleck also at the Golden Globes and Twitter was shocked but then Affleck said something along the lines that he wasn't offended at all because he was a public figure and a fair target so he just doesn't have to take jokes personal especially those by professional comedians that are just doing their work and Gervais re-tweeted it adding "see, he understands!" That was great!
About the comparison with Hart, I have two versions: 1) The GG aren't so cowards as the Academy (and yes, Gervais was also recently involved on a Twitter row with wokes and they campaigned for his firing. It was related to the Rowling "scandal"); 2) Times are changing and people including those who work in the entertainment industry are getting tired of extremists on social media policing celebrities faux pas and/or old forgotten tweets.

I think the “superwokes” are getting on a lot of peoples nerves these days. It’s like they monitor social media 24/7 desperate to find offence.
I am totally supportive of everyone’s right to identify as (and be accepted as) whatever sex or sexuality they want. But the JK Rowling palavar was a bit ridiculous. People were basically attacking her for pointing out that there are still two biological sexes even though people should be free to choose which they identify as. She was simply stating a fact but got jumped on by people who seemed to be actually denying the existence of xx and xy chromosome genetics. You can’t just erase facts because you don’t like them. That’s a very dangerous path to travel.

I just discovered two things on Twitter:
1) Some publication including The Guardian were really offended by Gervais!!! Why? Are they super rich celebrities or Jefrrey Epstein's friends?! So it wasn't just conservatives screaming the liberals were owned! Why the left gave them this kind of ammunition for silly things like some jokes about celebrities at a silly award show ceremony!
2) Apparently Boy George is also transphobic!!! This is similar to when the Spanish group Mecano (pioneer in lyrics openly about gay issues in the 80s and early 90s) were accused of homophobia or when Lou Reed of being transphobic for the lyrics of Walk on the Wild Side! This is a very ahistorical "movement" and are just damaging all the achievements by the people in the past who actually fight for important issues!
