It's just an impression but MF seems to be closer to some Comedians like Simon Pegg than to Classical Theater actors like BC and Andrew Scott. I don't think he is an introvert but it seems to me he doesn't like to do much extra curriculum stuff like going to parties or fan events. He just does his job and go home with family and friends! Nothing bad with that!
On the other hand, BC born in the acting business. He is, of course, very private with his family but he is also very sociable.

What a good read - of your posts I mean. Frankly I agree with all of you, but then again there is definitely something, can't put my finger on it. However, the two of them just shine when together, each one bouncing off the other. I remember listening to this a while back and have just found it. Martin on Desert island Discs talks about Sherlock. Freeman also tells host Lauren Laverne that his chemistry with Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock Holmes in the hit BBC show, is “fairly rare”.
“Probably nothing I’ve done... has resonated with certain parts of the world’s population the same way Sherlock has. It just hit a lot of buttons for people,” he said. Yet the
intensity of some of the fans’ reaction can be “challenging”, he said.

What is it that you can’t put your finger on, Dickens?
For me, there was a tiny little change as the first flush of excitement wore off after a few years. It must have been a very heady time for both of them, but that thrill fades. And I think Martin lets that fan stuff bother him more than Ben does. Martin was/is a lot more private than Ben that is, until Ben got married and had kids. Then he got super private, too. But in the beginning he was just drinking it all in and enjoying the heck out of it. Ben is much more gregarious than Martin.
Then again, what do I know? 😂

I actually think BC become more private after he was awfully attacked by the British press. He used to be very open and friendly with the press until some "journalists" decided to took some out of context quotes from some random interviews and presented him in a very negative light. They were vicious for like a week but it was at the time he was about to explode in Hollywood so it was obvious that he was becoming bigger than them! And they have never found something really negative about it! (The other day I read a tweet by someone linking Dominic West's infidelity scandal with some comments he did on Twitter about Donald Trump that bothered a few of The Daily Mail type of fans! Pure speculation but yes, they are capable of that! They always do those kind of stuff with celebrities hated by their readers)
He was already very private when he dated Sophie Hunter. That's why it was a huge surprise when he announced his marriage!

No doubt about it, you can't trust the press, especially the British press.

I think some fans assumed there was a feud because MF did not go to BC's wedding, and didn't have an excuse. Didn't AA or MF say he would just be watching his kids? But in hindsight, their marriage may have been breaking up at that time, and it could have been painful to go. Or if the guest list was short, he may not have gone because they weren't close friends, but that doesn't mean their working relationship is bad.
