Sorry for posting Jeffrey Wells again but even when I agreed he is an idiot, his blog is kind of entertaining…maybe for the wrong reasons! Anyway he wrote about the TIFF awards and mentioned TPOTD again. I saw the result on Google. Seriously, I only go to his blog when something interesting pops-up! I’m not a frequent visitor! Well, it seems he absolutely hated Belfast and he reproduces Jordan Rummy quote about an ex-Academy president declaring it one of the best films ever! The things is his comment section is a battlefield with him and Rummy fighting with someone who really liked the film! hollywood-elsewhere.com/2021/09/rejoicing-of-sid-ganis/#disqus_threadHe also declared in the comments that Will Smith film will be the winner!

I just spent far too much time reading Jeffrey Wells’s bog. He’s a nut! His goal seems to be disagreeing with what the majority are saying and making fun of the opinions of other film critics. But he does seem to like Benedict!

I called the Mrs. Danvers comparison since I read the book! I said it was funny (but great) that BC ended playing “her” instead of Max after all those remakes or quasi remakes of Rebecca out there! Guillermo del Toro even cast him in a Max prototype in Crimson Creek for a brief period! But no, BC was destined to be a Mrs. Danvers in the Wild Wild West! Lol
This is a Gothic thriller with a lot of European sensibilities instead of a Western and it’s great that critics are seeing it! Although, I have read a pair of comments by disappointed people who thought it was a classic cowboy flick! Lol

World of Reel posted a critic’s poll. You can read the name of the critics that voted (40) and Ruimy’s thoughts on the blog but one interesting bit of information is that Belfast isn’t in the list because it only received 3 votes. I think it definitely will suffer of a backlash by critics. Both TPOTD and Louis Wain are included! www.worldofreel.com/blog/2021/9/uaz9axtdig5qs098heyv99obbys22r

Branagh is sort of a bombastic filmmaker. His camera work is too big and gets in your face too much. Talk about scenery chewing! 😂 One more reason he reminds me of Olivier. That’s not a bad thing, I love Olivier, it’s just you have to be in the right mood to want to be trampled, lol.

Another one from World of Reel blog. I will post it this here because it’s a TPOTD review but one about the new very divisive Michel Franco film (the one that was despised at Venice but loved by British critics), www.worldofreel.com/blog/2021/9/qgi21051s28opgpvlfamqa7zf5gws3His TPOTD review is in the Reviews thread.

I got an email from TIFF saying that I can watch the In Conversation with Benedict again - for free again! I should probably watch the others, too, but why? Ha!
