Also, it’s interesting because they moved a few scheduled 2023 movies to 2024 but I don’t think they are their stronger “Oscar race” movies. There’s a Shirley Chisholm bio (with Regina King and directed by John Ridley, the 12 Years Slave script writer that I mentioned in another thread is vetoed by WGA because he publicly renounced to the guild and decided to work during the 2008 strike! He also is the showrunner of a wonderful tense series I’m watching right now on Apple about a hospital during Hurricane Katrina) which I think could be/had been a major contender but the biggest: Maestro and The Killer are still scheduled for this year. So no sure if it’s entirely about the strike.

But if the strike is still on, BC won’t be promoting, will he? 🥺

No, he won’t! At least, the strike ends before! There was a rumor today that producers wanted to return to the negotiations table soon but last week there were more pessimistic predictions.
It’s even worse for someone like Bradley Cooper because his movie is one of the big award contenders this year and it seems he won’t do Venice! He is not just the lead of the film but also the director. I guess the good news is that he could still do something later this year considering that his movie is scheduled for December and, of course, the Oscars are until next year. Actually, if Netflix decides to do some Oscar campaign for ‘Henry Sugar’, BC could do some press even after the movie is streamed.

This is a fan site so I'm not sure which it's their source.

But… it’s already listed on the app itself. www.netflix.com/title/81388090?s=i&trkid=0There is not date but apparently it’s only “Henry Sugar” short even when it also says it’s an anthology. I guess they decided to separate them. I remember to have thought that it would be weird to watch a very complex story like Henry Sugar (an author narrating the story of a man who reads a book about another man, etc) mixed with OTHER three stories in only one film. Also, maybe I’m wrong but I read somewhere that the limit for Oscar short films is exactly 39 minutes and that’s the duration of Henry Sugar! 40 minutes would be considered a long film! We will see!

Lol! The award pundits doesn’t know it but it’s not just Henry Sugar but all the Roald Dahl/Wes Anderson’s shorts receiving ratings, The Ratcatcher is PG for thematic elements, brief language and smoking. The Swan is PG for thematic elements and violent material. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is PG for smoking. And the fourth short should be Poison. Also PG for peril, language, thematic elements and brief smoking. By the way, only The Swan and Poison are classified as “shorts” so I’m guessing The Ratcatcher is also “long” like Henry Sugar. www.filmratings.com/Content/Downloads/cara_rating_bulletin.pdf

According to Wikipedia, Poison was already adapted by Alfred Hitchcock (for one of his TV shows) and, like Henry Sugar, is set in India so if Dev Patel is only playing a random doctor in Henry Sugar like that first image suggested (the main doctor is being played by Richard Ayode according to the credits in the photo and it’s actually Ben Kingsley who is playing the main Indian character), he maybe will be the star here. Although the main character seems to be white considering the synopsis. He could play an Indian British!
