I committed the error of reading a few comments on Facebook by some Film Dudes super fans of David Fincher! And well, IMHO Mank was a good film but no way it was better received than TPOTD! You don't even have to trust on review sites like RT or Metacritic to see that (it has lower numbers), just look to critics awards! And mainstream awards! And Netflix audience views! Or Nielsen views if you don't trust on Netflix! I clearly remember a lot of people being disappointed with the finished product.
Also, again, I predicted a Criterion release since day one so it was pretty obvious. Sorry that Mank isn't on DVD. Maybe it's because Fincher doesn't want to or because, yes, TPOTD is a much superior film!
The reaction can't be anything else but misogyny.

I just ordered it from Amazon. My plan was to get the DVD because it was cheaper, but the price today had dropped a bit, so it no longer qualified for free shipping. I didn’t feel like browsing Amazon to find something to add to my order, so instead I switched it to the more expensive BluRay. It should arrive on Sunday!

Amazon emailed me late last night to say that my order had been shipped and would be delivered today instead of Sunday - and my BluRay just arrived!
I’m saving it for a day when I have uninterrupted time to read the booklet and watch the movie again, so next week maybe.

Mine, too! It arrived hours ago but I just come back to home! It’s, like all Criterion designs, beautiful!

Ok. I just scanned the extras and the Jane Campion interview is actually the short film that you can also watch on Netflix with some BTS footage. It’s great because you see a little of JC’s method with the actors so I’m glad it’s included but TBH, I would also had liked a few more new stuff
The new exclusive extra is the Annie Proulx’s interview so that’s the only thing I watched complete. It’s great. She talks a lot about Thomas Savege and western literature. She compares him with Larry McMurtry, The Last Picture Show author. She thinks he influenced him on his nasty cowboy character but that Savege added the homosexuality to the mix.
She also praises the film and, at certain moment, highlights the handkerchief scene! She reads the passage in which she thinks Campion based that moment and which she thinks confirms that the relationship between Phil and Bronco Henry was consummated and not just platonic.

I will post it here because clearly they are promoting the Criterion DVD which should be released in the UK next week, I think.
