The comments by ageists fans made laugh! TBF sometimes the magazines kinda manipulates quotes out of context but yeah, he sounds like a small kid trying to be pretentious!
His old quote about not doing superhero movies (and comparing them with hard drugs) is also making rounds. He now revealed it was Di Caprio who told it to him. I wonder if DiCaprio is happy with the revelation! Also I said it then: he is doing franchises. Maybe he is trying to do them with more artistic elements on them than others because he is apparently a very pure and precious thing but Dune and Willy Wonka are still franchises!
I just remembered another slightly bothering thing about him! His clothes! I remember people praising him for his Venice Film Festival attire and I don’t have anything against men wearing traditionally women clothes. I’m very cool about it but there was something off with him and then I read a Janet Maslin tweet that made laugh! She said he was now very old to wear that very revealing blouse! That it made his back look really bad! Everyone was talking about how daring he was even when we have a few years now with male kids dressing like that! (And it already happened decades ago in the 1970s and 1980s! I remember an aunt talking about a small scandal with a parent because some boys used to wear makeup at the Faculty she worked. I went there years later and was still hoping to see these marvelous boys that loved to wear makeup but they weren’t there anymore because it was the 1990s and not even the girls wore makeup by then! We all went to classes without makeup and ours lumberjack shirts! Lol) And I agree with her! He looked bad and his back is now very “masculine”. He isn’t a teenager anymore! If he were a woman people would be criticizing her!
Anyway, it seems there is a small backlash. I’m sure he will survive but there are a few serious critics, the ones he wants to impress, making fun of his snobbish quotes and clothes now!

Also lol to the kids who doesn’t understand what’s the issue with that quote! It’s the “You old people/normies are soooo boring! I’m not because I’m an ARTIST!!!” It’s so childish! Also sorry that them all will understand why in a few years when they also become boring adults! The alternative isn’t a career in the arts but a) death or b) Peter Pan syndrome! Both tragedies! Lol
I guess it’s the opposite but in certain way, also the same with Tom Holland: he took the populist side instead but both are just saying ridiculous childish stuff in a moment when people probably expect them to began to act like the adults they are now. Also again, his fans maybe think people making fun of him are “haters” but funnily they are the people Chalamet wants to impress. Zacharek is the NYFCC president (and he already won one of their awards for Best Actor, by the way!)

I'm not a big fan of his, frankly. From the articles I have read about him he does sound very pretencious. I watched Dune and I didn't think he, or the movie, were very good at all.
In fact I've seen about 5 movies that he was in and I can't say he stood out in any of them.
He just always looks like he's preening before the camera. He has the exact same look on his face as he does when he's on the red carpet... a "look at me, aren't I artsy-fartsy!" countenance. Yuck!

Compare that “wanna-be” artistry to say, Tilda Swinton. She has always been naturally unique, beautiful, creative, exploratory, and all those things these young whippersnappers wish they could be. I think it’s because she’s thoughtfully educated, smart, and isn’t putting anything on for show. She just is who she is. Of course, she’s been around a long time, before all this pandering to the hungry social media pundits arose. I’m kind of interested in what makes that true creative personality type. BC has it, too.
I’ve only seen TC in Dune, and I have to say I wasn’t that impressed, either. He seems to be all surface trying desperately to reach for depth, but not having built that yet, can’t get there.

Young people who behave that way have always been around!
In my last year of high school, there was a girl in my French class named Trudy who went around with the attitude “I’m artsy and a creative genius and so much better than the rest of you”. She looked down on everyone and was proud to shock people and be “weird”. One day, she wore a t-shirt with an obscenity written across the front. Naturally, people stared and some pointed and giggled. I will always remember her strolling into class wearing the t-shirt, seeing everyone’s reaction, and telling the class “You’re all so immature!”. Ha! It turned out that she was from a very wealthy family, and this was her way of rebelling against her important parents.

Tilda Swinton is a great example! She is Marvel’s Ancient One, too! But I think British actors are more relaxed about those things and with a better sense of humor. Probably because contrary to Americans they don’t tend to have an inferiority complex about their training and/or credentials as actors. Especially, “posh” ones! They are just very self-assured about themselves. Americans who want to be taken seriously have to constantly repeat all the time how serious they are and how they aren’t just Hollywood starlets!
Also British actors tend to see their profession like a job meanwhile Americans want to make it in Hollywood and being a STAR®️ OR, like TC, are ARTISTS®️!!!
I think Chalamet was great in CMBYN but I wasn’t impressed by him in Little Women and The French Dispatch. In theory, he should be good for period pieces because he looks ethereal but he acts too much like a modern normie kid! It worked for the 1980s in CMBYN but not for the 19th Century nor Paris in the 1960s! He also wasn’t helped by the issue that his segment was the weakest in the Anderson film. I loved it and re-watched it recently but I just skipped it!
He is receiving good reviews for his new film with Guadagnino.

These kids doesn’t even know who is she!
And want her to be fired!
Lol! They thought Johnny Cash ‘hated’ Timmy!
And there is one very misogynistic tweet that I won’t post here! Who they are trying to convince? Even if they really believe she was rude (she wasn’t!) or misinterpreted something, how this would help your fave?

I was in a graduate program in Art History and omg the snobbery! They worshipped these critics like Clement Greenberg who wrote absolute gibberish, thought themselves better than anyone else because *ART* and profundity, and deep meanings about the longing of human souls and social justice issues (god forbid art should just be something pretty to look at), hated all Academy art and only revered the conceptual stuff. It really was tedious. A few of us used to have a great time looking through the critical magazines and trying to find sentences that made absolutely no sense, lol. There were tons of them. Some of them were real corkers.

Oh! I forgot TC was in that meteor movie Don’t Look Up and it was then that I sort of “got” him. He played that stoner slacker dude and seemed so at ease in that part I wondered if that is what he’s really like irl.
