Just a guess! This time last years we have three new projects announced for him as an actor (TCIT, Patrick Melrose and The Man in Rockefeller Suit), a few months/weeks later they announced Guadagnino’s project, Gypsy Boy and How To Stop Time. We don’t have any news about The Man (which supposedly was something imminent) and How To Stop Time was/is in its very early steps but the rest was/is practically his whole agenda for 2018. There has been 0 announcements for anything for him as actor for 2019. I mean maybe we will have something soon or he wants to take some free time 😂 😂😂 but I wouldn’t discard he has a secret project sometime next year.

I think the operative word, even when not actually used as Feige did there (OBS post earlier), is that "publicly". Plans may not be in the public domain, and might not even be finally fixed yet, but it is surely probable that Strange 2 will be filming in 2019.
But even given the assumption that Strange 2 will be taking up a chuck of 1919 or 1919/20, I'm still a bit surprised that there's nothing officially scheduled at all. Not even the Guadagnino film, which is presumed next and must surely be imminent (or did I not see Michelle Williams is now to be filming something else instead?). There's been no project news for ages! When it does come, after uncertainty re what may only be one element of the schedule has been sorted, I wouldn't be surprised if there'll then be a bit of a deluge.
Personally, re potentially more surprising projects, I've been supposing that "Smiley's People" is still coming sooner rather than later. It was ages ago now that GO said in an interview that it might be filming this year. But since then there's been nothing heard of it at all. There has, however, been a significant change to BBC plans for a series of "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold", which has been cancelled. it was that TELEVISION series that didn't sit terribly well re presumed plans for the next Smiley film to then be followed by the new Le Carre "A Legacy Of Spies", based on TTSS and TSWCIFTC. So I think there's now going to be another film of TSWCIFTC before the new story.

Guadagnino’s movie and Gypsy Boy are the only ones which are (supposedly) firmely in his schedule for this year. His company is developing scripts for How To Stop Time and Rogue Male. Smiley’s People has been mentioned by Gary Oldman and the producers for years but still nothing concrete for him yet. The Man in the Rockefeller Suit was mentioned one year ago as a potential project but that’s all. He is not attached to star in the other two.
So there’s nothing for next year. It could changed in any moment and they could announce the shooting of some of those movies or even another project we haven’t heard about but until now he just have two movies for 2018.

Or another idea: when they announced DS1, they ended up having to move the dates to accommodate Hamlet. Could they be waiting until closer to the time, just to see what is in BC's schedule? They might not want to announce until everything is settled.

Whatever reason they’re doing it for, it just looks like he’s the poor cousin. It’s not good.

They might not want to announce until everything is settled. That sounds very logical actually. BC is so busy and he has made it quite clear he also wants to carve out family time, so it makes perfect sense to me to hold off on any announcing of the sequel. The man has more things stacked up than airplanes on a runway waiting to take off! I don't think it's a matter of any sort of haggling over contracts either. I think that sort of thing has probably been settled long ago. And to me it is a matter of saving the best for last!!! :-))

There is a lot of speculation and contradictions around these movies that you can’t take seriously a lot of these articles or even declarations by actors. I read somewhere that Black Panther is not officially announced even when the actors answered question about the plans!
I think the plan is not officially announce anything until next year around the time the new Avengers movie is released but we will see!

Whatever it is, I do not buy the "we aren't announcing until all the current things are done" excuse, because they already announced Spiderman and GOTG next movies before their last ones were even out of the theaters. GOTG3 is still 2 years away.
I would suspect that if DS had done poorly, but it had the highest box office of any of their solo origin movies (except BP) and even beat several of their sequels. So they can't have been unhappy with it. There must be something else going on.
I wonder if the phenomenal success of the last one puts the actors in a position to re-negotiate, or if it's a done deal? Also that one is still fairly recent, not over a year ago like DS.
