Part of the problem is that there are so many horrible and unlawful things going on right now that the public can’t sustain its level of outrage every day as needs to happen for change. The Trump administration is entrenched in wrong doing, and isn’t responding to calls for change. The Environmental Protection agency is raping the land and water daily, it’s head is breaking the law right and left, Trump and all his cronies are lying constantly, muddying the waters so people don’t know what is true, the rule of law is being assaulted at every turn. The ACLU is working overtime to try to keep people’s freedoms, however, courts are slow to act, and our Congress is ignoring the entire thing, etc., etc. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. It makes Watergate look like an afternoon picnic.
So, all we can really do is hope for the Mueller investigation to hurry up, and wait for the November elections.
I keep contracting my representatives, and I write the White House frequently to express my displeasure, but it isn’t really helping. Now on the horizon: abolishment of the department of education. This is unbelievable!
Sorry to keep going on, but the loss of America is really upsetting to me. I know we have lots of problems, we like to meddle/start wars in other countries where we shouldn’t, but at one point we believed and invested in education and tried to help other people in the world. Now we’re proud of suspicion and racism.

From where I sit on my little Island nation right between the US and Mainland Europe it looks like the two powerful countries that were The USA and The UK have both gone mad & in electing Trump and voting for Brexit have set their respective Nations on a path to destruction. It is truly terrifying.

I really, really thought Trump and his gang of cronies would be out of office by now.

I really, really thought Trump and his gang of cronies would be out of office by now. But the people who voted him in still seem to think he’s great. Well that’s how it seems over here from the news reports. To the extent that I fear he will get a second term of Office.

If Democrats don't show up in larger numbers (due to overconfidence, disillusionment, or Bernie Sanders-type disagreements over nominees), then yes. Trump's supporters love him more than ever. He was correct when he said he could shoot someone in the middle of the street and not lose votes. It's unfathomable.
Now, I'm not sure if he will run again. I never thought he intended to win the first time; he is old, obviously no politician and remains quite uninformed about world events. His wife doesn't seem to like being First Lady, either. But my husband pointed out, he would care very much if he looked like a "loser" as a one-term President. And he does love rallies.

I don’t think he’ll get a second term, because (hopefully) he’ll be in JAIL. He’s done so much money laundering for the Russians, dirty deals, conspiracy, etc., that when the Mueller probe ends, they’ll have enough to lock him away for life. Looks like his ex-lawyer, Michael Cohen, is about to sing like a canary. If Trump tries to pardon these low lifes, or himself, the people will descend on Washington and drag him out of the White House if Congress refuses to impeach.
Yes, his base loves him, but they’re not the majority.

That probe will never end. He will just continue firing anyone who gets close. And his base may not be the majority, but they were enough last time.
Sorry to be a downer, but my faith in humanity is shot these days.

There were a lot of reasons, imo, that Trump won, including the Russians, Comey, Hillary was a bad candidate, etc, but. I believe in Mueller. He’s getting indictments, and slowly working towards Trump’s inner circle. My faith in people is shaky, but holding. It’s just really bad right now, and likely to get worse before the end. I just cannot believe our democracy will be overthrown so easily. Don’t give up hope!

I will post this in this thread because I don’t want to open a new one!
Have anyone read this?
This guy is a very prominent Twitter user and journalist. But mainly a Twitter personality. He is a very active and apparently also initiator of too many Twitter mob lynchings. The article reveals that he is some kind of social climber, hustler and liar. He used to attack not only random people behaving badly or committing social faux pass but also some personal foes just because he didn’t like them or felt threaten by them.
He apparently claimed a days before the article was published that he was suicidal. The timing is very suspicious but obviously I hope he is alright. Still, this article shows what it’s wrong with social media and modern activism. It’s just a bunch of frauds with some issues trying to destroy people they don’t agree with or they just don’t like them.
Interesting enough, he also uses a very edited photo of him on his account. In real life he looks slightly older and bigger. A lot of people are accusing people pointing this of fat shaming but it’s clear the point is that he is presenting himself to the world as someone completely different to his real self.
This thread is also very telling,
It’s amazing that modern culture is in hands of people like him!

Another comment, I have seen a few people saying he didn’t do anything bad and suggesting that people are nasty for not straightforwardly believing he is indeed suicidal (even when the tweet they are quoting is by a journalist suggesting that it was widely *already* knew that a) he was a manipulative fraud and b) he was saying he was suicidal because the article was about to be published. It’s awful but IMHO it shows how easy is to manipulate people if you just say the “right” thing and present yourself as a victim.
About the accusations not being so bad or bad enough, I imagine they were waiting for something over the top like sexual abuse or murder but the article suggests he accused a politician and old friend of sexual harassment for kissing him even when people who knew both of them said they used to jokingly kiss each other during parties. The guy lost some job opportunities because that! I think falsely accuse someone of sexual harassment is extremely ugly!
He also has a few legal problems with a Getty (!) for some unpaid loan money and he manipulated people like Kathy Griffin for his benefit. Not exactly horrible but undoubtedly amoral. And there is that vengeful vein against his foes and estranged old friends.
But I understand why certain circles on social media wouldn’t find anything of this wrong, tho. Again that’s Internet culture: if you don’t like someone you just try to find any old out of context quote to destroy their reputation; If you can obtain some advantage slandering someone go for it; present yourself like a victim and accuse anyone who you can’t fool of being abusing, etc.
EDITED, this thread:
