This actually looks quite good. Closer to the books which were really scary in parts - actually harrowing. I only knew the story from the original books (my father was a cub scout master) and have never seen the Disney version (although I have seen excerpts from it). It seems very intense. I like the adult feel about it. :-))

I've never read the book, but I do remember us reading a short story from it when I was in elementary school. It was one of those assignments where we read the story and answered a bunch of questions. I think I was in grade 4.
And then I remember that they showed the movie on a flight I was on once. I didn't pay too much attention to it, though. They must have made different versions of it over the years, because the one on my flight wasn't the Disney animated musical.
