I just saw an article by someone moaning about how grim is modern television and he named this! Why would he wanted to watch a Brexit movie when Britain is in middle of this?
TBH the first thing I thought was that someone should recommend him a few pre-scholar cartoons and to let adults enjoy of the adult stuff! Seriously when I was a teenager I loved to watch adult-oriented films. Not porn, of course! But a lot of gritty 70s classic American movies with really heavy stuff themes! The most rebellious thing I did was trying to snuck myself to watch R-rated films! Why would I want now to go for the easy escapism? It sounds so crazy to me! It’s great to be an adult!
Anyway isn’t great that people like him could be moaning about the grittiness of any of the last three BC’s TV productions? He just mentions Brexit but thank God The Child in Time and Patrick Melrose were also about very heavy adult stuff!

By “Big B.C. connection”, he is referring to the other BC - British Columbia.

It's fascinating how this little political movie is touching a nerve everywhere. In the case of BC, there is a direct link but there's also all those tweets from Spain and my ex-boss, someone who loves films, history and works in politics, organized a screening to discuss the film (He does these kind of events I couldn't go, tho.! but I was surprised when I saw the invitation with BC's bald head on it!)
That's what early critics didn't understand. Films aren't about 100% confirmed facts but about concepts that we all could identify no matter the localized details and even when this seemed a very local theme, it clearly goes beyond it.
By the way, I'm reading that the guy that compared BC with Muamar el Gadafi and we, his female fans to Gadafi's guards just become UK's Prime Minister! Wow!

I considered Brexit to be brilliantly written (and acted) because it was much more psychological than historical. It's good to see more in depth appreciation of it. It was a truly brave piece of storytelling IMO because they had to have known going in it would be viewed with all sorts of preconceptions. I'm really glad to see it get some serious recognition.
