I think we'll get a confirmation about the baby soon. He hasn't had many new interviews, but another Avengers is coming and that always goes along with a PR tour. I thought about him this weekend; my nephew and his expectant wife had a gender reveal party, and it's to be the first girl born in mine or my husband's family in 25 years! Do we know if he is filming any other projects before Rio next fall (maybe?) Ellie, you never knew you would miss those hats until they were gone. I know OBS! I’d even be grateful for a sighting of the miniature trilby he wore to the French Open. The situation is dire indeed. 🙁

Yes I don’t see any issue on the work front as he seems to have plenty to keep him busy this year. It’s just the news blackout on the non work stuff that makes being a fan slightly less interesting than it used to be largely from the perspective that there’s not much to read and have fun discussing with other fans. I’m still a fan of his work obviously but I used to really enjoy the online banter with fellow fans about BC’s various off duty activities ranging from his random appearances at Grand Prix to Wimbledon to his extensive hat and blue shirt collection. Now that’s diminished it makes for a lot of tumbleweed in the online community. Well, all I see this year at the moment is wrapping Ironbark and doing (maybe) Rio in the fall. I really hope there is something more going on and something I could get really excited about. Brexit was interesting, but in the end it was just a TV movie and Rory Kinnear was an almost more interesting character. Things like LL or cameo in Good Omens are something he used to squeeze between more important work projects. I am not sure he will be doing a promotional tour for new Avengers. He had time to do it last year and probably has time this year, as well, but he is dead, after all. To bring him to promote the film would be a massive spoiler.

We already know that he’s going to promote the Avengers movie! Some lucky winner of the Omaze draw will be attending the premiere with him. While he’s Los Angeles for that, it would make sense for him to make other appearances.

Well I would just like to say that I respectfully disagree with your evaluation of Brexit. I found BC’s characterisation of DC very intriguing and complex and he specifically made the show even more fascinating IMO (meaning I was very interested in it to begin with from a political viewpoint but his handling of the role upped the ante for me personally).
“but in the end it was just a TV movie” ... Sorry but I think TV is THE place for innovative stories now and it’s not the “red headed stepchild” of movies any more. It gets a lot of respect nowadays in most quarters because a lot of highly regarded directors, actors and producers have put out really exciting material on the home screen.
And, to me at least, TCiT, Brexit and PM were just as interesting, innovative and thought provoking as any of BC’s big screen movies. And I might also say he has a history of picking other quality TV material too - To the Ends of the Earth, Parade’s End, Hawking, and the Hollow Crown, all products of “just” TV, are certainly worthy of standing beside The Imitation Game or any of the other movies he has made.
As for the new Avengers film (something that doesn’t personally excit me as a film, but can’t be ignored when talking “visibility”) I don’t see why he wouldn’t do any promotion for it. It’s my understanding that it isn’t any secret that DS will be alive and kicking in the Avengers new movie because it has been well publicized that BC will be in a DS2 movie in the near future.
I really don’t see Marvel keeping the actors who “disappeared” under wraps and off the publicity circuit because the supposed “spoiling” of who will remain dead from the last Avengers movie. From what I have seen of the comic book sites it is pretty well known that characters like Black Panther, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange are very much already expected back because they all have sequels.

Ooo! I want everyone to do another Star Star Tour. All the dusted heroes can sit in the back of the bus, and the originals can pretend they can’t see or hear them, lol.

There are a lot of fantastic and innovative TV project, often more interesting than movies: Patrick Melrose was one of them, a truly revolutionary piece of work in all aspects and it is deeply unfair that in the end it got a lot of nominations and very few rewards. But Brexit, IMO, was just a solid TV movie, important topic, good writing, good direction, good performances. BC was excellent as usual, but his character just wasn't written in a very interesting way IMO, because it was more about HOW Brexit happened than about WHO made it happen. Just like Billy Bulger in the Black Mass wasn't written as an interesting character and even BC acting genius couldn't turn him into one.

Just like Billy Bulger in the Black Mass wasn't written as an interesting character and even BC acting genius couldn't turn him into one." I see those two roles and their relationships in their respective films very differently. I don't think there was really anything wrong with the writing of the characters in Brexit, especially not DC's character. Brexit may have been on the surface an examination of HOW it happened, but IMO it also VERY much was completely filtered through the character of DC and the whole movie rested on BC's capable shoulders. His character WAS the Brexit story for the film to me. Everything revolved around that character. The other characters pivoted around DC's actions and it was the personality of DC that determined the whole direction of the film. As for BM, the role of Billy Bulger in the movie was SO underdeveloped that it left the character dangling and the movie as a whole, less interesting as a result (to me anyway). The character wasn't really as pivotal as it should have been (even taking into account that it was just a supporting character), because IMO the really interesting dynamic was between the two brothers and instead the focus of the movie was more about the relationship between the FBI fellow and Whitey. It wasn't that the character of BB wasn't interesting, per say, it was that the other character relationships were the ones that they decided to develop much more thoroughly and they weren't as interesting. That, IMO, dragged the film down.
