He was criminally wasted in Black Mass, that’s for sure. (See what I did there?)

That's a good one QZ! 😉
But I guess when you actually look back on it all, you can see BC has had PLENTY of starring roles too though. I've heard some people complain that he doesn't do enough ensemble work!
Honestly though, I think he does a pretty good mixture of both. I like the idea that he isn't afraid to mix it up as he sees fit, with supporting/co- roles, lead roles that carry certain projects and cameo roles, etc.
And then there's, of course, the animation work, narration, commercials, radio work, readings, audio books and stage work. And I almost forgot - in the future we may add directing as well (which would be exciting I think)!
Just about the only thing we haven't seen thrown into the mix on a regular rotation is, of course, stage work and he just isn't ready for that grind (as he explained in the past) because of the consumption of time it would have on his personal family situation.
From a totally selfish POV I would hope that he does have time in the future to add that back into the mix, even though I personally wouldn't likely be able to see it, because I think that is a natural home for his talents above all else.
But it is totally understandable why he has decided to set that aside for now.
The man is more than just here for our entertainment, after all! 😁😅🤩

He actually doesn't have too much leading roles on films and the strange thing is that the few he had are actually pretty succesful (with the exception of TFE, of course).

Wasn’t there an article a couple of years ago that ranked the most successful movie actors? They looked at actors on IMDB and compared the success of the films they’d been in. Benedict was listed as #1. In other words, he only appears in good movies. He’s doing something right, so there’s no need to go changing it!

When I say he has had plenty of leading roles I mean in all mediums. I'm counting TV, film and stage (and I guess radio and whatever else). That's because I think they all should count when you are tallying up his acting career projects.

I think miriel68 was talking about films. He is a major star, indeed but his best and biggest until know are on TV.

He is a major star, indeed but his best and biggest until know are on TV. That may be true, but why should it matter? His work is his work, so why do we have to just look at only one segment of his efforts? Does it really mean anything significant? He knows how to "carry" production (regardless of the format). And in this day and age where his "TV" (and stage work) is presented in the cinemas in some countries, why segregate TV from cinema? What about Mowgli? The demarcation is getting fuzzier and fuzzier each passing day. My point is that he has been the lead actor in plenty of productions over many formats and THAT is what really counts. At least to me.

I agreed. He is a leading actor and I'm sure he is widely considered a leading actor but interesting enough he has actually just a few leading parts on Cinema.

The last time BC did a movie produced by Spielberg (The Fifth Estate), we had an official photo the first day of shooting! I was secretly hoping for an image (preferably with all the cast!). It seems to me that they haven't released the poster yet so maybe we will have it soon! Hopefully!
