Polemic theme but I think it's related to the forum because BC played him and a few people are talking about the movie on his tag.
I personally feel conflicted about it. He is a moron, that's for sure, but he was arrested for a “computer-related offences”. In other words, he was arrested because he undercovered American's dirty stuff in Iraq (And I agreed that he did a horrendous work when he didn't protected third parties when he published the documents without censure but TBH I don't think Trump's government is worried about it) What kind of crime is that? Why so many left-wing journalists are happy with something like that? It's a horrible precedent! It's a threat to journalism and a few of them are celebrating it when they should be asking questions. They are arresting people for publishing whistleblowers! How it's posiible that they don't understand that they could be the next ones?
About BC's post: it sems a lot of people didn't watched the film and don't understand what it was about at all. Some of them think BC is sad with the arrest and others that he is very happy with it. You know, they can read his mind just by watching the trailer (again I don't think they even watched the movie). Most are just making fun of how Assange has phisically changed and doesn't look like BC anymore and compare him with other not so cool/attractive actors. The stupidest comments I have read are one by a "playwriter" (she said she is, I don't know her) who predicts that BC will deny his friendship with Assange! Were they friends? Wasn't widely publicized that Assange refused to even meet him or anyone of the production? Didn't Assange made fun of BC and the producers because it failed in the box office? There was even an event in which one of the ex-followers now a critic of Assange presented a book or something in which apparently BC was an attendee (I don't remember his name but I think he was his "contact" with Assange. Yes, a critic! and the one who helped him with the character. It wasn't the guy who played Daniel Bruhl. I think he was a journalist) and they both were booed by Assange minions there. Again Assange made fun of it on his Twitter account and BC, of course, joked on national TV at the Graham Norton show about how he was scare about Assange hacking his credit info! The joke was that he provoked a guy with a lot of resources! But now they were friends! It is in some ways a great accusation because if he says, "no, we weren't". She would say, "I told you! He is denied it!" Maybe it's not so stupid. It's just in very bad faith! But I'm not sure those people are so smart, I tend to think they just fabricate enemies (most of them celebrities, they would never go against real dangerous people, they are cowards!) in their little minds so they can be self-righteous about them on Twitter (never in real life, that's dangerous!).
The other one, is a "journalist" being happy with the arrest and swearing never to watch TFE! I just blocked him! That's not a real journalist, it's just a coward who apparently is scare of a mediocre Hollywood film! If you don't want to watch it, cool! But why announced it to world when talking about the arrest? It seems that's his idea of heroism! Pathetic!
EDITED: It seems Sweden is also asking for his extradition. I hope he is extradicted there for his allegedly sexual related crimes and not to the USA!
EDITED: Now I'm reading he is facing just 5 years in jail! That's less than the time he was at the embassy! So the nasty guy will be probably free in just five years but the precedent for arresting whistleblowers publishers will be there!
EDITED: There is now a debate between some journalists if the charges of Computer Fraud is or not a bad precedent for journalists. The legal analyst in CNN says it's not but others disagree. At least there is a discussion of the theme. I'm perplexed with journalists that are just happy because an odious character was arrested and just ignore the details!
EDITED: The consensus seems to be that the charges will not affect formal journalism. That's good! There´s also a precedent of someone in the UK succesfully fighting an extradiction to the USA for similar charges! He could be free, soon! Much ado about nothing!
