I'm reading reviews about Once upon in Hollywood and I'm glad it's being a hit with critics but my cynical side is wondering wasn't Tarantino canceled? I remember at certain point they were denouncing the actors he was hiring for this film!
Anyway, good for him!
The movie sounds interesting although the Sharon Tate story is extremely tragic and horrible so even if he gives a happy ending to the film (I suspect he would do something similar to what he did with Inglorious Bastards and show an alternative ahistorical ending), it would be slightly uncomfortable to watch knowing she and the others victims were very real.
I'm slightly more interested to watch Bong Joon-ho new movie. It's being acclaimed, too. I like him as filmmaker but I like Park Chan-wook's work more. Bong Joon-ho could be a little preachy! I wasn't a fan of his Netflix movie. I actually can't get enough of Korean cinema in general. I even enjoy to watch some movies that aren't that good. Visually they tend to be beautiful and fascinating. I remember I was very happy when I discovered that Chung-hoon Chung was The Current War photographer but then happened what happened...
I also like Bruno Dumont work so I also want to watch "Jeanne".

I just saw that they are asking Tarantino about his "relationship" with Polanski. He said he met him twice (not exactly a "relationship") but that yes, he is a fan of his work. Especially, Rosemary's Baby.
One comment below the tweet, "so he is a fan of a sex offender"! I guess the backlash is coming! The ugly true: Polanski is one of the best (old) filmmakers out there! Yes, he should be in jail but c'mon his work is really great. Even the recent ones. I haven't watched everything but Ghost Writer and Venus in Fur were amazing!

Ok, I retract what I said in my OP, the American press is being slightly confrontational there, Still, glad that critics weren't influenced by prejudice but maybe that's because they are at Cannes. We will see what happens when this is released in the USA.

I wanted Almodovar to win but apparently he isn't there!

Bong Joon-ho won! Good! I'm happy also with Antonio Bandera winning. I remind him once giving some award there and joking he won't never would win one of them!
I also want to watch Portrait of a Lady on Fire. There was a campaign by some American journalists wanting the director to win and becoming the second woman to do it but I didn't see too many talk about the film by foreign press.

I only watched by Bong Joon-ho Snowpiercer (that Weinstein kind off dropped) which I liked but was a little too faithful to the comics -it looked old, same as High Rise- and Okjia which I didn't like at all.
I didn't watch Picasso but Antonio Banderas looked very good in its trailer. Dolor y Gloria's trailer doesn't show much.
The boy and some scenes remind me of Patrick Melrose.

Have you watched Mala Educación? I thought the child scenes were actually very similar to that movie. Mala Educación is, in part, about abused boys and Almodovar recently said he knew a lot of kids that were abused by priests in his religious school so there is indeed a link with Patrick Melrose.
Antonio Banderas is practically playing Almodovar in Dolor y Gloria. He mentioned it today in his speech. That he thanked his character who was actually someone real, Almodovar himself.
I have watched Snowpiercer, Okjia, The Host and Memories of Murder. Okjia is indeed the weakest. He is worried by very simple political ideas (rich people exploiting the workers, big corporations destroying the environment, American government behind conspiracies, etc.) sometime he could be preachy but I enjoy his movies. Supposedly today's winner is his best.

There are mostly shots that remind me of PM. Perhaps is just the trailer. They're those where the boy and adult are shown one after the other.
