(She is the one with the books rights so I guess the article is just out of context quotes arranged to suggest a second season)

This news makes me incredibly happy, even if it never ends up happening! It means that the project was special to Benedict and he, also, wants to know what happened to his character after we left him.
I always think that these almost-autobiographical stories should end the way they did in real life. In this case, Patrick would turn to writing as he continues to stay clean and sober and make better decisions.
I loved the way they ended the old Dick Van Dyke show, back in the ‘60s. My mother was a huge fan, so we were always watching the reruns when they aired. I now have the entire series on DVD. As they neared the end of the series, Rob completed his novel about his experience as a comedy writer. The rights were bought by the tv studio where he worked, where they were going to turn it into a sitcom about a comedy writer! In real life, that’s what happened to Carl Reiner - he had worked as a comedy writer and turned his experience into the sitcom the Dick Van Dyke show. I thought that was brilliant!

Sounds very "iffy" at best.
Of course I'd LOVE to see another BC project, and I understand the feelings that go along with the intense bonding that happened with all the writers, cast and crew on a dream project like this, BUT I don't really like it when people go backwards to recapture the "lightning in a bottle" moment.
It rarely works.
I'd much rather that they'd leave PM the way it is - a perfect jewel of a limited series - and move on to something new (maybe with the same team). To me, PM doesn't need anything else to extend or complete it.
It's the way I feel about Sherlock too.
I don't need MORE to complete it - it felt 100% complete enough when it ended. Don't tinker with perfection is my motto.

Agreed: it's perfect as it is!
Deadline suggested before a possible season 2 based in the last quote on the article. I guess they just added the new comments by Little Island producer but if you read them without context they are very vague: "Yes, I would like it. We have talked about it. The scriptwriter is not busy right now but we still don't know what the author of the books would think". They were totally reaching with BC's BAFTA speech quotes!
I think Horovitz reaction confirms it is not something real.

I'd be very leery if he is not involved. It doesn't sound like something BC would do.
I loved the series, but I agree, they should go out on a high note.

It really doesn't sound like something BC would do, does it. With RH's response it kinda confirms in my mind that this is a case of Deadline taking quotes wildly out of context and cobbling together a very speculative story (for clicks?). BC has historically always been about looking for NEW challenges and mountains to climb. And seeing how he seems to have bonded so closely with "Teddy" I doubt he would agree to something that didn't involve him as well. But even setting aside this article, mllemass, I feel the intensity of BC's emotions concerning this project of PM, like you do - and that thrills me too! His reaction to his win for best actor was not only for the finally conquering the "BAFTA Curse" but also for the fact that this one was sooooo precious to him on a personal level too (something he personally wanted to get done). That's a lovely dynamic to watch unfold at the ceremony. 😁❤👍

Omg I hope they don’t. I don’t know where they could take it, artistically, that would add to anything. The story’s been told. 😬

I also hope they don't. It's still very early and it seems a lot of people involve doesn't even know about probably it won't happen.
Still there is a trend right now to do second seasons of series based in books that already adapted all the literary material in a first season: Big Little Lies, 13 Reasons Why, The Handmaid's Tale, etc. Probably, that's why they are considering it.
