Will you be visiting the Canadian Museum of Civilization? It was just incredible when I was there. Unfortunately, we went there on our last day, and there wasn’t enough time to take it all in. We could have spent our entire trip there!

Haven't been there in ages but loved Quebec City and Montreal. Great food in both cities! In both cities they have carriage rides (in winter they offer sleigh rides). Here's a shot of Dan and me when we were freshly married in La Belle Province on the Quebec City boardwalk . Circa 1970s LOL! We were soooo young!

We could have spend our entire trip there! If we have enough time, yes. But there seems to be so much to see. Will be back here again though next week as part of the cruise which is the next bit of the holiday.

You’re standing in front of our hotel - The Chateau Frontenac. Always wanted to stay there & it’s living up to expectations so far! Just arrived so working out what to do for the next two days.

Back then (1976) we could only afford to walk along the boardwalk in front of the Le Chateau Frontenac. We were tenting it across the eastern region through Quebec and into the Maritimes. Ended up in Cape Breton Island (where Dan's mum is from) in the coal mining community of Glace Bay. Only married for two years when we made this trip. Loooooong time ago. Dan and I just celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago.

Oh RP, I would definitely recommend Le Chateau Frontenac. I don’t usually stay in such swanky places but have splashed out on this holiday. However tonight we are about to tuck into Poutine & beer in local cafe. 😀

Well our financial situation has luckily changed for the better since those days, so staying at the Chateau Frontenac wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility now, like it was back then. I loved camping back in those days but now that my bones are so much more "creaky" I much prefer the posh places where they treat you like a celebrity! 😂🤣😎
Are you heading out west (Manitoba, Alberta, BC) next after you tour Quebec?

No. After Quebec we’re going to Montreal, then on to a Cruise to Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island ending up in Boston. Today we’re off to explore more of Quebec City. I’ve been here before but I love it, it’s so pretty.

Cruise down the St. Lawrence to the Maritimes. Sounds absolutely wonderful! Haven't been to PEI since I was a kid but I'll bet it is still beautiful. Such red soil! And there is so much history to explore in NS. Annapolis Royal, Fortress Louisburg, Halifax. And the rugged beauty of the Cabot Trail and quaint fishing towns like Peggy's Cove. Fond memories. Have fun!

Will you be going to Halifax? While you are there maybe you could find a museum that details the Great Halifax Explosion of 1917. I believe there is a memorial to it now in a park. A book, centring around the explosion, by the Canadian author Hugh MacLennan called Barometer Rising was required reading in school when I was younger. Interestingly enough, a fellow reporter that Dan worked with for years (and still is a friend of ours), his mother was an actual survivour of that disaster! She's dead now (lived to the ripe old age of 97) but she related many first hand accounts of what happened to her son, who passed those stories on to Dan.
