Thanks RP. 😊 I just felt we needed something to get us engaged! Do you know I still haven’t seen “To the Ends of The Earth.” I really must watch it. You really must. Both Dan and I love any stories that have a setting aboard a sailing ship. But this one was extra interesting because of the allegorical aspect of Golding's writing. He was so interested in how man functions in society. And it is an absolute showcase for BC's talents! He carries the whole weight of the production on his back. I could watch it a hundred times and still get something new from his performance every time! And it has the delightful Jared Harris in it (who I just saw in the harrowing Chernobyl series), as well as J.J. Field (from Third Star) etc.

I had that same feeling of BC being in an entirely different movie when I watched Star Trek: Khan edition. It’s like he was doing some Shakespearean tragedy and everyone else was in some silly, random, sci-if tv show, lol. I had a really difficult time with that movie b/c of stupid stuff, like freezing an exploding volcano with a COLD FUSION DEVICE. I mean, really? 🙄 That’s not how that works.
Still, he looked good, didn’t he? Bulky, menacing, passionate, dressed in black and kicking some ass. 😍

I had originally watched To the Ends of the Earth in a bunch of short clips posted on youtube, I think. It was irritating to watch it that way, but it was worth it because it’s so good! I have it on Blu-Ray now.

BC was just a bonus for me. I don't watch ST for the science - it's an adventure story. I have watched that film dozens of times and it's still a huge thrill ride for me to see it!

Maybe I should try it again and put my literal-ness aside. 😂

Maybe I should try it again and put my literal-ness aside. 😂 I thought it was pretty dumb, but then I don’t like science-fiction and I only saw it for Benedict. So I’m really not a good judge of those kinds of movies, and I wouldn’t know a good one from a bad one. Benedict has forced me to watch movies I would never have seen in a million years!

Kind of how I feel about watching comic book films like his Marvel movies. Dr. Strange, although I enjoyed the film, thought SD did a great job of directing it, and liked how BC played the part, was definitely NOT the genre of movie I usually enjoy. Or his role of Smaug as well. In fact, I love watching the excerpts of him doing the acting in the BTS YouTube videos, but shudder at the thought of having to sit through the actual movie! Not that they're bad films - just not my type of film. I am pondering about the day he actually does a musical... l loathe that genre of movie more than comic book movies! That DEFINITELY goes into the bin of "movies that I watch JUST for BC!".😂🤣😆

Sci Fi still isn’t but I must admit I enjoyed Dr Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy, which a friend persuaded me to watch. I like that they’re tongue in cheek with lots of humour. Plus the music in GoG is fab. When it comes to watching movies you otherwise would not enjoy - I put myself through all 12 hours of the Lord of The Rings Trilogy (twice!)just so I could gaze upon the gorgeousness of Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. Je ne regrette rien. 😀. Aragorn is still, to me, the sexiest man ever to grace the screen. 💓 As for musicals, I love the old Hollywood classics like Singin’ In The Rain and Guys and Dolls. Have never liked any made after that era. Hated La La Land.
