I grew up with a mother who wanted so desperately to have curly hair, and was jealous of anyone who had natural curls. Her natural hair is not only straight, but also fine and thin, so her lifetime of perms makes her hair look thicker, too. She has told us stories of her teenage years in Italy, when she and her sister rolled their hair around bits of fabric before bed. And one day her sister was late for something and couldn’t get the tangled cloth from her hair, so she cut them off!
My sister and I did not inherit my mother’s hair, thankfully. My sister has very straight hair, but it’s very thick and she has tons of it. I have lots of hair, too, and new hairdressers always comment on it because it’s also each hair is as thin as my mother’s, but I have so much of it.
I had a perm, once, when I was in high school. I looked ridiculous! I have since discovered that my hair already has natural waves if I want them, but I usually don’t.

I’ve spent way too long looking at the photos from yesterday - I think that Sophie’s dress might be a jumpsuit and not a dress at all!

What pic made you suspicious that it might not be a dress, mllemass? I had the same thought but couldn't find any pix that clarified my fleeting suspicion. It could be a dress with really deep pleats maybe?

It could be a dress with really deep pleats maybe? There’s the video where she and Benedict are posing in front of the photographers, and then she steps aside when the director comes over to hug him. Someone posted the same thing, but taken from the other side, and it definitely looks like the dress is divided when she moves and puts her hands in her pocket. |

Someone on tumblr just posted the designer Sophie was wearing - Simone Rocha. From the runway pix it's easier to see that it was a dress (if Sophie didn't have it customized). Here's the picture -  I also found this -  which seems to be the dress she was wearing at the BAFTAS. |

Thanks for finding the dress! Because it’s so sheer, her legs were visible and I guess they gave to illusion of pant legs.
The price is $5,575 (Canadian) - probably more than I’ve spent for all my clothing over my lifetime. And they even mention that it’s dry-clean only - like anyone would attempt to wash something that expensive!
