I can understand that people are disappointed that their favourite didn’t win, but how can they come out and tell the people who did win that their movie didn’t deserve it? How awful! I block anyone on twitter who does that, no matter what they’re talking about.

At the end of the days, awards doesn't mean anything. Good movies will be remembered and bad ones, no so yes, hyperbolic hysteria especially the degree we see on Twitter: if that film wins the Oscar then actual filmmaking is death! or, this one was against Jojo Rabbit, the people involved in this film should be trial at the Hague!
The most fascinating thing is that this year all movies involved in teh Oscar run seem to be both deserving (for some people) and a danger that must be stopped to any cost if we want humanity tosurvive (for others)!!!. C'mon! It's the Oscar, most people out there doesn't even care!

I’ve been thinking about Eddie Redmayne a lot recently. He’s made a trail of stinkers since he stole (😉) the Oscar from Ben five years ago. So an Oscar doesn’t necessarily redeem a career, does it?

TBF he was nominated again next year and had a huge hit with that Harry Potter related movie.
I haven't watched his new movie with Felicity Jones but I think it was nicely received. It had a few "interesting" problems, by the way. It was released at Telluride and people there (you know, Oscar voters) really liked it but for some reason Amazon decided not giving it the big screen release they had promised and it just disappeared. Who knows? Maybe if Amazon would had done an award campaign for it we would be talking about it and I don't doubt the film and ER would not just had an opportunity of winning some awards but Film Twitter would being threatening to kill him! Without the Oscar prospects, it's just a nice little movie that no one hates and very few watched!.
Amazon is distributing Louis Wain in the USA, another UK period piece. I actually hope Will Sharpe do something more daring that just a typical UK bio but I also hope Amazon treats it with dignity.

Perhaps he chooses not to work too much. Also, the movies he chose lately must take some time to film.
Remember he's also been nominated on 2015 for The Danish Girl.

Those Harry Potter movies are garbage, and the new Aeronauts (or whatever it’s called) doesn’t look very good. Overblown. Well, maybe he’s devoting more time to his kids. Still, he doesn’t have the draw or gravitas BC has, (she says, not taking sides AT ALL) lol.

I was thinking about the sound in 1917 after I saw it. I found some parts overwhelmingly loud and I wanted to cover my ears, but then it would stop and I felt like I could take a breath and breathe normally again - for a while, anyway. Other parts of the movie just had a low thumping hum, letting us know that something was about to happen. It was interesting that the music and sound could convey so much! The nominations and wins are so deserved!

Yesterday the SAG award for ensemble in a motion picture went to Parasite. As 1917 won the GG (picture and diretor) + PGA these two movies are considered by many the frontrunners for best picture.
Look at these (photoshopped) pictures of Tarantino. Hilarious!
