Well I just booked our next trip - New Zealand and Tahiti! Next September we will be going with G Adventures on one of their National Geographic tours for 13 days to see the North and South islands of NZ. And then we wing off to Tahiti to spend about a week split between two Tahitian islands - Moorea and Bora Bora. Over the water bungalow villas and total relaxation in both! Should be quite an adventure!

That sounds wonderful! You’re doing what I always thought I’d be doing, but for lots of boring reasons I’m not. You’ll have to keep sharing your adventures with us so I know what I’m missing!

When Dan and I were much younger (in our late 20s) we seriously talked about moving to New Zealand. In fact we did more than just talk, we contacted the NZ embassy and enquired about emigrating there. But we didn't follow through (for a number of reasons). But we have always wanted to go there. I can't wait!

Hello there, RP. How was your trip? My wife and I are currently planning our trip, so your advice would greatly help us. Initially, we wanted to visit Ethiopia until we saw the article about the high risk in Ethiopia traveling. In short, we gave up on this idea eventually. So, Tahiti is our destination now. That’s why I’d be really grateful for your and other folks' advice and suggestions on that. Thanks in advance for your help. I highly appreciate it! We'll be waiting for your replies. Best wishes!!

Hi! Unfortunately we never went because Covid stopped us! We hung on until the last possible moment but we had to cancel eventually. We were lucky though in some sense - we got most of our money back!
But I would have gladly spent it to have gone!
It's still on the back burner but we won't be traveling again until things are a lot safer. I know NZ is opening up but it's the logistics of getting there from Canada that is the most worrisome for us. It's a LONG flight to that part of the world for us! And at our age (and taking into consideration Dan's diabetic) covid is just too high of a risk factor.
Maybe some day!
BTW, welcome to the group!

Hello there, RP. How was your trip? My wife and I are currently planning our trip, so your advice would greatly help us. I forgot to ask, when are you going? And is it hust to NZ or are you getting to Tahiti as well? Good luck with your plans! I hope you drop in and tell about your adventures. I love travel stories.

Well I just saw my travel agent this morning about our plans for NZ and Bora Bora. We had a nice chat about our expectations and dates for travel etc. She seemed hopeful about it being "doable". She said she should have something worked out by Wednesday. We've got a "healthy budget but the biggest hurdle is that so many people are booking it's actually crowded even as far out as February! So worst case scenario - we'll have to delay it until September. As it stands if we get what we want, we'd be gone almost a month away from home (from February 5 to March 4). Hope we can swing it - it would take a BIG bite out of winter!
Fingers crossed!
