Finally we get some descriptions of the plot! All I was picturing was cowboy Benedict with a handmaiden, but the story does sound good, and Benedict’s character is something different for him.

It turns out that The Power of Dogs is not the only novel with that title. And the title probably comes from a Rudyard Kipling poem.
The Thomas Savage novel was written in 1967 and set in the 1920s. It was re-released with a forward by Annie Proulx, who wrote Brokeback Mountain.
