That's the article I posted days ago! So is it the same article? Yes. But the interview is much longer. sgev1977 , I think you were asking if anyone profficient in French could do a transcription/translation of the interview? We can ask Lunadax. I more or less understood but I was doing something else at the same time and sometimes I just heard noise. I'm going to try to focus and listen. Which do you think are the three principal characters? Phil, Rose and Peter? Phil, Rose and George? Phil, George and Peter? I think that the homosexuality wasn't perhaps obvious in the 60's but the first thing I thought when I read the basic plot was he could be gay.

I bought the book but because it comes from the USA it doesn't arrive until Monday. I read two interesting reviews in one someone said the book was "problematic" because the author, a "closeted gay" who married a woman, had a lot of kids and later (symbolically, it wasn't legal yet) married to a man, made the villain gay. The second review criticized the first review because bisexuality exist and the "critic" problem seemed to be just the author's sexuality! I'm kind of glad that it's a "surprise" on the book so social commentors have actually wait to see the film to give an opinion! It seems BC's character is bigger than life so I think he is undoubtedly the main character. But the other three characters seem important. Obviously, Peter is Phil's romantic interest. I think at the end of the book it's him who is the hero but I haven't read the book yet so I don't know for sure! The ending is a shocker, according to descriptions It would be interesting to know who they will cast for both Peter and George. On another theme of the book, a few people said it contains a lot of animal cruelty beginning with a graphic description of the way Phil likes to castrate animals. I think it's kind of funny in a cruel way considering BC is not just vegan but apparently tries to wear clothes that doesn't harm... worms!

I'm only on chapter 1, but there are already some hints that something is up. For example, he won't drink because he is afraid what he might get drunk and say. Some of the ranch hands also wondered if he had ever been in love, so apparently no past relationship anyone was aware of.

What I was trying to say was that the English translation I found was a direct translation of the Montreal Journal article. My apologies for jumping in on your conversation.

I'm sure it would be managed in a respected and delicate way. Based in most reactions to the book, it seems the book does and Campion is a very sensible filmmaker.
The problem is always people on social media giving opinions about things they haven't watched! And thanks to the discreet summary we didn't have the "why they cast a straight actor in a gay role?" reaction, which it seems to be applied just in select cases but BC surely would be one considering he is Internet popular, a Marvel actor and was already nominated to an Oscar for playing a famous gay man (it seems to be a sin right now winning awards for playing gay and being straight in certain quarter). Where are the reactions to Pedro Almodovar casting Antonio Banderas as his alter ego in his new film? No one cares there! Antonio Banderas isn't cool anymore so who cares?!
