I just discovered that the make-up artist in this, Noriko Watanabe, is Sam Neill's wife. Considering he already made a film with Campion and apparently lives near the place where they are filming it, then he maybe could play Mr Burbank, the Old Gent himself!

That would be perfect, sgev! And it would be a reunion for BC and Sam. ☺️

I'm just speculating but the last time I imagined some nepotism (Plemons and Dunst) I was right so...hopefully! BC seems to have SM in high esteem. I remember he talked very fondly of him in one of the multiple times he mentioned his kidnapping in South Africa. Apparently SM was very supportive. He also visited him in his ranch (in Central Otago where he is shooting this film) when he went to New Zealand for The Hobbit. And, of course, Neill had a chicken named "Benedict Cumberbatch" so... Haha wow! They really mixed up the tracks & the artists. Plus (🙄), they did the “funny” business with his name like 15 times. But this was years ago, so...

I saw Keith Carradine perform in The Will Rogers Follies on Broadway in the early 90s! It was a musical, and I remember that the songs were good and it was a lot of fun. I had never heard of the show, but it was all I could get tickets for and still make it in time for our flight home that evening. We tried to fit in at least one show each day we were there.
Later, Barry Manilow (who I love) included one of the songs, “Never Met a Man I didn’t Like”, on his Showstoppers album of Broadway songs. And not long afterwards, it was announced that Marla Maples (ex-Trump) would be taking over one of the lead showgirl roles in the show.
Also, it was at that show that KC came back on stage and asked the audience to donate money to a charity (I don’t remember which) before leaving the theatre. They had the giant showgirls from the show, still in their glittery costumes, posted at each door to collect our donations.

So he is from the same "Luvvies harrasing audiences for social causes School" as BC? 😉 This casting reminds me to Campion giving also small roles to some iconic actors from the past in Portrait of a Lady, Shelley Winters, Shelley Duvall and John Gielgud. The Governor appears, I think, in two scenes on the book. One of them is very important: a dinner in his honor in the Burbank's house. Somehow Phil managed to spoil the occasion even when he isn't there! Now I wonder who will play his wife! And the rest of the characters!
