This are the two last paragraphs of a Standard article about BC in New Zealand:
I don't know the details of those two "celebrities" cases but that they compared them with BC seems malicious. BC was working in the place and stayed there. He was just lucky of being in the best place in the world in the right moment!

Sam Heughan was in Hawaii and decided to stay there when the lockdown started.
The Outlanders nuts who ship him with Caitriona Balfe were infecting his twitter and instagram and he wrote about it.

So not a long journey to hide there? (atrb_partsz) I committed the error to read the DM comments again. Most new comments are people criticizing the negative ones. I tried again to post a comment with links to the charities he helped during the pandemic so they could donate, too. Surely, they will want considering how desperate they are to know which charities BC has donated!!! Well, the site is much more stable in my phone but it wanted to read all my tweets! Why would I give authorization of something like that to the DM?! Anyway, we know he does a lot of charity work and has donated not just time but money to a lot of charities, big and small, during this time and he is so discreet about it that those efforts rarely end on the international press. Good for him! He doesn't need the approval of some angry types in a creepy rag!

I don’t think we were ever told that we had to self-isolate at home. There was much confusion in March when people were travelling out of the country. They were urged to return home (to Canada) as soon as possible because no one knew whether they would be allowed to later if the situation became more serious. It was also recommended that they return so that any health issues could be treated here at home (where we have health care). What they did tell us that we were not to travel around - not by plane or car or train or bus. If you were out of your house, it had to be only for groceries or a medical appointment.
As the weather improved, people around here started asking to move to their cottages - often hours away - and were denied. There were lots of complaints about the taxes they’ve paid for properties they haven’t been able to use, and they want their taxes refunded! Ha! We’ve all paid taxes for loads of things we haven’t been able to use for months! But the people who lived in cottage areas year-round also didn’t want the seasonal cottagers there, possibly bringing infections from the big city.
There have been suggestions to open up some areas that have had low numbers of covid cases, but that doesn’t work. This past weekend, our city opened up access to a number of nature trails, and crowds of people showed up. They found that people had travelled from outside our region - from areas that still had their trails closed - to enjoy ours. The tv news is constantly having mayors on from pretty, touristy areas saying “Please don’t come here!”.
It would be nice if we could all be lucky enough to self-isolate in paradise, but I don’t see how anyone can blame someone for being stuck in Hawaii. Almost all of my neighbours have swimming pools, but I will not be jealous when I start hearing them splashing around in the next few days!

I guess it's understandable to feel not necessarily envy but maybe some frustration with inequality in the world but it seems to me that in the case of the Hawaii guy it was mostly a tin hat nuts thing presented by UK tabloids as a class issue. British papers seeing everything with class war lens.
BC is resented by right-wing types for his pro-refugees stance so it's kind of ironic they criticize him for not doing NHS related charities (that he actually does. He even financed two NHS related charities in the last two months) when they are actually angry at him for working in favor of another charity they nastily didn't approve. That's why a good portion of the comments are about him not taking refugees with him!

This is interesting: www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12333398I think the ethics behind Avatar people entering the country aren't clear yet but it seems it's happening. I hope they are at least doing the 14 days quarantine, tho.! I was wondering about it because even when the three main actors, the director and at least one supporting actress are still in New Zealand; it seems the cinematographer, an important supporting actor and another supporting actress returned to Australia (without mentioning the Canadian producer who also returned to his country). There are discussions about an agreement between Australia and NZ to open borders between both countries but I don't think there is anything official yet. Both countries are being very strict about borders. Maybe that exception mentioned above is why BC people are sure they will restart the shooting next month.

I’m positive anyone entering NZ now Will have to do the full 14 day quarantine. They didn’t crush it only to have it start up again from folks being lax. 👍🏼

And another Kirsten Dunst's interview with multiple mentions to the film, The interviewer had the opportunity to ask about the new Jane Campion film in more than a decade and he asked about Hobbits! cbswatchmagazine.com/interviews/focus-on-kirsten-dunst/hidden-figuresAlso she visited Sam Neill! I wonder if BC was also there! Surely considering he had visited him before!
