Maybe JJ’s looking for work and wants to raise his profile? (God, my cynicism is in full force tonight). Or maybe because Hollywood considers STID BC’s first blockbuster? So he was there “at the beginning?” Actually I don't think you're being cynical. You and Magda mentioned what I was thinking but didn't wanna say. JJ really hasn't done anything for Benedict (sure he got him a role a decade ago but nothing since not even a cameo in SW). It just feels like JJ is there to ride Benedicts popularity. Would be funny if Benedict talks 2 seconds about JJ thanking him for being there then spends minutes talking about Feige. Say what you want about Marvel but Kevin Feige on the other hand has done a lot for Benedict so seeing him as his guest speaker is deserving and nice to see I'd say. And one I'm looking forward to. JJ? Not so much .

I hope he doesn’t talk about either one of them, other than to say thank you! They shouldn’t take credit for his success - they’re the ones who should be grateful that this amazing actor was willing to be in their action movie and elevate it, like he does all movies!
I want him talking about his family, his parents, his friends, his fans. Also, Sherlock- the show that made his a big star. Maybe he can go on and on about Jane and his TPOTD co-stars, since he really should be campaigning for the Oscars.
I hope that whoever speaks about him gives a proper history of his work - not just movies and tv, but also theatre and radio. And his charity work! Everyone should know what he’s done!

As much as I don't think Star Trek fans deserve BC after they hated on him last time...I really loved him in STID and would love to see him reprise the role. I only wish they hadn't doubled down on BC being Khan himself instead of his second in command Joachim, when it was clear there was a big controversy brewing.

Maybe JJ is there because he’s key on another big property in the Disney stable: Feige representing Marvel Pictures, JJ representing Star Wars. Even though BC’s association with him is through Star Trek.
He’s a well know and powerful producer in Hollywood, so a good person for BC to have on his team. That being said, over time my opinion of his work has gone down. He seems good at acquiring properties or getting himself put in charge of them. But then his storytelling and treatment of the property falls short or is inconsistent. Sometimes in ways that could have been easily avoided- for example with STiD if they’d made slight alterations to nuKhan’s backstory and not tried to be SO coy about who BC was playing it would have gone over better. There’d always have been some fandom grumbling… even Sheldon on Big Bang theory played into it “they sent the wrong Spock!” before BC’s Khan existed. But most of the problem was a JJ (and his top team) created one. And don’t get me started on what went on with the new Star Wars films. He had all the right pieces, excellent performers, creative and skilled BTS teams and all the money in the world … and then made some really bad and in some cases outright offensive decisions. It’s like he gets excited about a shiny new toy he and his bro-team can play with, but has no real understanding of the heart and soul of what makes it special or the value, power of the characters, history, etc he’s got on his storytelling palette … instead just going for twisty or cool in the moment thing.
RE the Walk of Fame thing, it’s neat he’s getting one, but it’s okay to recognize at the end of the day it’s a PR / Marketing tool used by show business powers that be to promote their properties by having a press op for a celebrity. Sometimes fan groups will sponsor stars, but usually it is a situation just like this one.
