They compare Call my Agent to several other shows, some of which I’ve seen. Extras and Episodes are comedies. CMA has moments of hilarious wit and slapstick, but I don’t think it’s really a comedy. The big difference I see is that with Extras and Episodes, the stories are told from the point of view of a normal person like us (the tv viewers) reacting to the insane behaviours of celebrities. In CMA, we had a bit of that at the beginning with Camille. She was new there and reacted to everything the way any of us would have, but that changed. She adjusted and got used to how things were done, and even began doing those same things herself (especially when she got back at her father).
I also think that the conniving Bebe from Frasier does care a lot about her clients and goes to great lengths to get the best for them. But what she wants for her clients isn’t always what the clients want, which leads to the comedy. I think Bebe would fit in very well at ASK!

IMHO Call MY Agent is a comedy. Actually, it's a sitcom. Maybe it has a few dramatic plotlines but they aren't very dramatic and they are common in classical sitcoms. I mean even Extras with all its cynicism had a sweet friendship relationship at the center and they had slightly dramatic problems!

I agree that relationships are at the centre of any good show, otherwise we wouldn’t care enough to watch them. Even the funniest sitcoms have quiet/dramatic/sad/touching moments. And vice versa.
Most of the plots in CMA involve solving problems before they escalate, and often it’s done at a frantic race against time. Meanwhile we, the viewers, hold our breath to see how or if they’ll get it done. I think it’s too “exciting” to be called a comedy. I guess it’s a bit like Sherlock that way - ha!

Just finished watching all four series. Absolutely brilliant. Plus how is it that the French look so stylish when just wearing jeans and a shirt? The episode with Charlotte Gainsbourg reminded me, isn’t she related to Sophie Hunter/Cumberbatch? There is definitely a physical resemblance to each other.

I think she is related to her mother, Jane Birkin but I'm not sure it's a direct link or a family member married to a family member.
I remember someone getting angry with me on the IMDb forums when I said they looked alike. Apparently it was a sin to say that a "wannabe" like Sophie Hunter looked like a sophisticated French actress like Charlotte Gainsbourg! Lol
