From what I’ve read, Enola Holmes is from a series of young-adult novels. She’s the teenage sister of the Holmes brothers who has Sherlock’s detective skills. This movie is based on the first book in the series. There are six books, published 2006-2010, so before “our” Sherlock showed up on tv. Ah! Thank you for that mllemass.😊

It was enjoyable enough. I didn’t care for either portrayal of Sherlock or Mycroft, but they aren’t really the focus anyway. I liked Enola and her mom. I would watch more.

Enola is 'alone' backwards. Yes, that’s in the movie.

I watched the second film and it is very similar to the first one in the sense that it is very light and enjoyable. Millie Bobby Brown is very charming. I guess I'll forget about it because I forgot the first one. That is, it is also very forgettable.
Edit: I looked back at my comment on the first one and I hadn't like it much. Haha. Well, this one is perhaps lighter and I wasn't bothered by the length.

I haven’t watched it yet, but I will. I agree that the first was light and forgettable!

I haven’t watched it yet, but I will. I agree that the first was light and forgettable! The books are really cute. Mycroft is a total ass. And, as for Sherlock, well, there is a reason the Conan Doyle family hate the books - he is emotional towards Enola. Oh, he acts all distant, but he loves her (she utterly adores and worships him) and she spends the entire first book evading him in London. She also hints a lot about his melancholy, which, because she is 14, she doesn't really understand. The scene where she sits in the woods with him is very sweet, especially if you picture BC in that scene, rather than buff hottie Cavill (he is just too buff to be Sherlock - he would make a better Cyrus Barker from Will Thomas' series). Obviously, I haven't watched the series. I should probably do that, eh?

I just watched the second movie, and I loved it! It’s smart and funny, and a perfect girls’ movie. It’s a mystery, a romcom, and an action movie. I liked it more than the first. I really like Millie Bobby Brown. I like that she has made such wonderful choices in roles that set a good example for her young fans.
Henry Cavill is less bulky in this movie, so he looks a bit more like we expect Sherlock Holmes to look.
It’s interesting that they seem to have combined different villains from “our” Sherlock into one for this movie.
I’m looking forward to the third Enola Holmes movie!
