I add my good luck with the rest. Hopefully you wont need injections for life, but that's far better than partial blindness.
Cabin Pressure, a good laugh. You have a kind husband.😁

Thanks Dickens. I'm feeling more upbeat about this whole situation the more I think about it. Cabin Pressure is one of my top favourite things that BC has done!
And yes, I have a very kind, sweet and thoroughly entertaining hubby (and he is a very talented writer)!

Thanks OBS. I feel fine today. Actually better than fine Dan helped me wash my hair (so I didn't get any water in my eye) and I had a shower. I had made the BIG mistake of not doing these two things BEFORE I went to the treatment! Next time I will be smarter.
As of right now I don't have any irritation in my eye at all or redness, so things are back to normal.
😊👍

I’m so glad you’re feeling good today! You should start seeing an improvement in your eyesight, soon, too, which will make you even start looking forward to the next injection!
Did they explain to you why the medication in the injections isn’t normally covered by OHIP? They don’t cover it because it’s actually meant to be used in cancer treatment. At some point, they must have discovered that it helped restore eyesight, too. But OHIP only covers it if it’s being used for cancer. As I mentioned before, my sister has it covered through the Trillium Drug program, otherwise she’d never be able to afford the injections. They cost over $1000 each time!

Thanks for your good wishes Mllemass.
I'm over 65 so it is covered by OHIP. I specifically asked about this and they told me not to worry and that I don't pay a penny out of pocket.

One good thing about the ageing process, a lot of things you need are cheaper or free.☺

One good thing about the ageing process, a lot of things you need are cheaper or free.☺ That’s true! I’ve mentioned this before, I’m sure - the day my mother turned 80, my father took her to get her senior‘s bus pass so that she could ride the city busses for free. She doesn’t drive, so this was a big deal!

I thought I would just clarify something about my treatments. I'm on Lucentis. It was specifically developed for macular degeneration. That is why it is very expensive ($1600 to $2000 per shot). The macular degeneration drug that was originally developed for colon cancer is Avastin and isn't quite as pricey, but it still could be expensive for some (and that is why it uses the off label approach if necessary).

Good news - just got another jab in my eyeball today and the doc reports that I am doing fantastic! No sign of blood or fluid in my eye for the second straight visit. Si I have one more treatment in March and then the next round of three sessions will be spaced out even further than every 6 weeks. No pain again today so the extra freezing is working. As well they measured my eye pressure in my eyes and both were with in acceptable limits, so things are going well there too.
With any luck I just might have my eyesight back to normal (that's normal for me - VERY nearsighted and various astigmatisms) into old(er) age!
I feel wonderful about this!
