We just went for a socially distanced visit with some good friends in a small village on the shores of Lake Eire called Port Stanley. Apparently the whole downtown is being transformed into a Netflix movie set. They are there forel for several days. It's some sort of horror movie. Anyway, it's exciting for the locals! It's called Locke and Load I think.

It might be Locke & Key, which is filmed in Canada. It’s written by Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill.
There was some excitement around here a little while back when the new season of The Umbrella Academy came out. We knew that it was filmed here, but the poster and ads for this season feature a very recognizable street. They didn’t change anything, other than photoshop parts of buildings to look like they’ve been blown up.
And last week we drove past a movie set in a historic area of Dundas - a popular location for The Murdoch Mysteries, so I’m guessing that’s what they were filming.
When you look up filming locations, they’ll often list “Toronto” when in fact it could be anywhere in Ontario.

Thanks Mllemass, that's probably what it is. Our friends said the downtown was being transformed into a town in Connecticut.

Season 2 of Locke & Key had been on Netflix for a while, but I’m just now starting to watch it. The first episode, “Premiere”, focusses on the premiere of a horror film. I just noticed that the whole movie premiere was filmed at the theatre here in my city, where I saw TPOTD and where the owner sold me the poster. It’s sort of exciting, seeing it in the series! It’s exactly the way it actually looks - all they’ve changed is the movie posters on the walls.
That theatre was restored a few years ago after being boarded up and shut down for decades. When I was little, they used to show Italian movies there on Sundays, and Italians came from all around to go there. That’s where I saw The Godfather 2, in Italian, when I was way too young to see it.
That theatre, and the other independent artsy theatre near my house, are both having Oscar viewing parties tomorrow night - so you get to watch tv on a giant screen! Tickets are free with a donation to the food bank.
