So apparently he lost his suit against Amber Heard? I’m so upset! That poor man, first abused by this psycho person and then not to be believed in court! I wonder if he’ll appeal? What a bummer...

Apparently it's very rare that someone lost that kind of lawsuit in the UK because the accuser is the one who has to prove that, in this case, he was indeed a "wife beater". I haven't read the resolution by the judge but maybe the issue was that they both looked awful during the trial and it was easy to conclude that both were violent against each other (based on the testimonies published on the press) but it's irrelevant if she cut his finger not. They weren't reviewing her behavior but his and some testimonials suggested he sometimes was violent toward her.
He has another lawsuit in the USA, a place in which it's even more difficult to win a defamation suit, tho. And apparently his lawyer said they will appeal so we will see if he can prove his innocence or not.

If I understand it correctly, the trial wasn’t to decide which one of them was the abuser. It was to decide whether The Sun was guilty of libel. If they were both abusers, then The Sun was telling the truth about him. Obviously there was more to the story that they didn’t write.
This reminds me of a story involving my elderly next-door neighbour. About a year ago, her daughter moved in with her. We then read in the paper that the daughter, a lawyer, had just been released from prison. She was released into her mother’s custody after serving her sentence. She had been found guilty of practicing law without a licence and of defrauding immigrants of thousands of dollars to speed up the paperwork so that they could enter Canada. After she had had her licence taken away in New York, she had continued running her law practice in Toronto. The trial and her sentencing was reported on the tv news and in newspapers. But now, she’s suing the media for millions of dollars. She says that she begged the reporters to interview her and get her side of the story, but they weren’t interested. She is suing for libel because they ruined her reputation. Her side of the story was that her licence to practice law was taken away in New York, but she was now working in Canada. And besides, she says that the other licensed lawyers who worked for her actually handled all the paperwork, so she did not break the law.

The shocking thing is that UK law seems to be very hard on the "defendant" in libel suits so in theory, The Sun had it very difficult but it seems they were sure they would win because they didn't do what the UK press normally do: to try to make a deal with the accuser before going to trial.
It was very disastrous for Depp! I guess they both look themselves as victims and maybe they both are but you never hit a woman! Just based in the fact that he is stronger is a big con against him! If she cut his finger (it seems the judge didn't believe him), he totally should had denounced her but instead he is fighting against newspapers!
It's more difficult to win in the USA and he could lost his money! I understand he has financial problems so yes, very disastrous! And I understand why he is doing it: he wants to restore his reputation. He is a Hollywood star and a Disney icon, he needs a good reputation to win the money he used to win!

I don’t know why the judge didn’t believe the finger episode. I saw a picture of it and I’m a nobody. I’m sure they were both at fault, and anyone in a tempestuous relationship has probably thrown a few slaps around, but Amber Heard is a psychopath. She has a long history of abusing. It’s sad all the way around and I just feel for Johnny.

The place was a mess with broken bottles and a broken window.
Also, that has no relation with his claim against The Sun?
If you want to know why the judge doesn't believe him on this it is all from page 76.

Johnny has been asked to resign from the Fantastic Beasts franchise by Warner and he did, according to a statement he made today from London. Also, I think he’s going to keep fighting - that’s what he says.
I could care less about that franchise (I watched them, thought they were kind of fluffy & weak), but I’m sad for him.

It looks like he posted that letter specifically for his fans, who he thanked for their support. I doubt that missing out on this role will hurt his career.
