I think LetterBox is for amateurs so I doubt they would worry for embargoes.

I thought the embargo ended Jan 6th? I don't know the situation of this film but nowadays they do both social media embargoes and reviews embargoes. Maybe that's the case here.

If the story is based on the actual man’s actual memoir, how can the review criticize it for being sentimental? I can understand maybe criticizing the actors or the filmmaking, but not the story.

I think people’s personal political views about America are tinting their reviews. That’s not a bad thing, but given the nature of the material, I think it should be acknowledged. Some people have said they’re not going to watch a piece of propaganda for the US, which is interesting given the source material, and there’s still a lot of anger over Gitmo (deservedly so).
