Wow, I just had a gander on Twitter at this story and the number of people wishing he would die is horrendous. I don’t pretend to understand this story because who knows who’s telling the truth, but the vitriol being leveled on all levels is incomprehensible. From what I understand, he has some weird, disturbing kinks, a troubled history, and his wife may be on a public revenge thing, alá Amber Heard. I’m sure he’s done some nasty stuff but to call for his death is out of control. If there’s a criminal case, it should progress. If not, leave him alone.
Twitter has really become a disgusting mess of haters and I’m just about ready to bail. I keep curating my feed but it doesn’t seem to help. And now they’re removing free bots, so there goes art, lots of animal stuff, nature photographs, fun pictures, etc., from the platform. All that will be left are the hate bots who are happy to pay to spread their bile.
I don’t give a toss about Armie Hammer, didn’t miss him one bit when he was “gone,” but these cancel mobs have got to stop. Public discourse has become ungovernable.
Everyone thinks they’re an expert now, whatever the tooic, and are just talking out their asses, lol. I’ve just waded through an unbelievable amount of people chiming in on the Chinese spy balloon thing and about 1 in 500 people understand the situation and can speak knowledgeably about it. The rest of the takes are ignorant regular folks and politicians trying to trash the other side.
Sorry, I went off on a Twitter tirade, lol.

I saw a tweet by someone who clearly hasn’t read the piece claiming there were “credible” evidence that he committed rape, murder, cannibalism and other things and then people saying “wow, he should be in jail!” They just don’t stop to think that if that was the case then why he isn’t in jail. To the very few people who said this, the OP answered with an article saying that a police officer said they were investigating him! Well, he still isn’t in jail, doesn’t? nor on trial and apparently the accuser doesn’t want to cooperate with the investigation and her famous feminist lawyer who organized the infamous press conference discretely abandoned her client some time ago. But they refuse to read the piece so they neither would see the screencaps of her messages to friends admitting she wasn’t raped and the complete conversation with AR in which she clearly is also role playing with him their crazy fantasies. Or what about the apparently very credible proof that she followed him around the world, even appearing behind him on a public video during a premiere in Europe or she happily talking on social media about her meeting with Luca Guadagnino, all this AFTER he allegedly raped her and sometimes with him trying to avoid her. And the stories about him maniacally raping young girls (more than 100!), making them disappear, “stucking objects” on males, committing murder, fantasizing with killing his own kids and being investigated by the FBI that she and his wife told to investigators were very 1980s Satanic Panic hysteria!
Of course, the most disturbing part is the allegedly existing messages of the wife and the accuser conspiring to hurting his reputation so she could get the complete custody of their kids (she didn’t got it because the authorities concluded that he wasn’t a dangerous man as her and the other woman claimed). I admit it sounds a little like a misogynistic fantasy but the journalist is claiming he saw those messages and he interviewed the friend who helped her to distribute fake gossips about him to the media letting her using her private e-Mail but who later regretted it when she considered it was pure revanchism and not her friend trying to survive to a bad marriage.
Then there is the girl who asked for money on Internet after claiming she was also raped by him but now admits she never met him but she know that he totally would had raped her if she had did so she didn’t do anything bad when asked for money! C’mon! And the Colombian guy who apparently also was violently raped by him because he told him that men could endure more violence than women (AH says he also doesn’t know him and he has never had sex with men)
The two other women, who he actually met and had sex with, are probably the more “credible” victims and only if you consider the modern concept that adult women could be groomed like abused kids. He admits that it was an imbalance of power and that they were younger than him and infatuated with him and it was him who introduced them to the BDSM fantasies and not the other way as with the main girl, Still, there are other screencaps of them playing alongside him those fantasies.
Now everything could be a lie! Why not? We don’t know for sure! Maybe it’s a huge lie that he is broken after all, he is indeed from an extremely rich family. Maybe he is this very powerful psychopath who can control authorities to gave him share custody instead of completely losing it as his wife wanted. And someone capable of block up a criminal investigation against him for some horrible and multiple crimes of rape and murder! Maybe the screen captures are fakes and the journalist is on his payroll but it would help a lot if those people who believe this first would read the piece and then being capable of showing proof that the statement presented by the journalist are just garbage. Also, it would had helped if the original pieces about the scandal were strongly documentated and not just being recycled stuff from social media!
He claims the rape scene she narrated actually existed but was detailed planned by both of them as a fantasy. He said she introduced him to those kind of played fantasies and that the conversation was recorded on social media but that he erased it and that his lawyers are still trying to recover it and that if he still have the messages, he would immediately ending the speculation. Well, I really doubt it! People already decided he is a sick criminal and they won’t never change their minds! They would probably refuse to even see the material!

I just thought that there is a bit in could be easily fact checked: the thing about him supposedly being incapable of violently rape someone because a recent surgery. We know he wasn’t lying about it because I just googled it and found a post on Twitter by him and an article that contains photos of him on the hospital from her wife’s account (kinda sad watching them together there), abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/armie-hammer-missed-sons-birth/story?id=46784186And it seems the Doctor saying he would need months to total recovery from it wasn’t lying neither. Articles said it a surgery for a “total” torn need at least 6 months of recovery. www.onehealthcare.co.uk/treatments/pectoralis-major-repair-surgery/#:~:text=In%20extreme%20cases%20with%20severe,before%20full%20strength%20is%20returned. aminoco.com/blogs/recovery/torn-pectoral-muscle-recovery-timeorthosports.com.au/shoulder/pectoralis-major-tears/He supposedly raped her in April (the journalist said he saw medical documents saying he was in rehab the day before and after the “rape”) , according to the article, he hurt himself in January and according to those articles he shouldn’t lifted heavy things nor done anything extreme for those 6;months. Obviously, any of the articles mentions rape but even they doing extreme consensual sex sounds dangerous! (He didn’t had his chest muscle completely attached to the bones!!!) The article quotes a tweet by him from a year and half later celebrating that he finally could do some “chest training” Again, maybe there is some manipulative lie there but it’s difficult for us no expert to see it when the critics refuse to even read the material. There is not debate, only social media blindly believing on their religious faith.

The prosecution decided to retire the charges because they can’t proof beyond reasonable doubt that he raped her,
I have seen a few tweets saying he got away with it because he is rich but, apart that today a very prominent Scientology actor defended by the church itself was declared guilty of rape by the same legal system, the whole resolution kinda seems to confirm the article about him.
This whole affair sounded bonkers since the beginning: they were literally saying he was a cannibal and the girl carefully posted only his comments! Also, I remember that ridiculous pre-scandal article about him based on out of context quotes in old magazines in which he was being already considered a monster only because he was rich. The author actually celebrated when she “confirmed” he was an evil man because “she always knew it”. I remember that Janet Maslin “congratulated” her for her wonderful gut but then questioned her about the integrity or objectivity of writing something like that based only of her “feelings” toward him. He is an idiot and, yes, a pervert! But the accusations sounded very weak since the beginning and the resentment against him beforehand by some pathetic segments of the press only made the complex and it seems unfair case worse. They were biased against him and ready to believe not just that he was a fetichist but that he was a brutal criminal only based on innuendo and silly “proofs”
I don’t think he could make a comeback, tho. His is a sexual scandal and I don’t think audiences will forgive that. Maybe they could forgive other crimes by other major figures but he isn’t that popular or beloved and his case is very salacious. We will see! I personally have never being a fan of his but it’s interesting how this very twisted but unbelievable case was very easily believed by those who already “knew” he was the evil incarnated.

Ha! I was just using him in my argument on the other thread. Who knows what the truth is in this case, although I feel bad for the woman if he did rape her. Sure there was something strange going on between them and that line is easy to cross when sex play gets out of hand. Yuck! I wouldn’t mind if he disappeared from public life and acting. He’s a terrible actor anyway.

It's so difficult with these things. I always tend to side with the alleged victim because: 1) I've known men who will SA and not feel anything is wrong with it and, 2) I cannot imagine any person making up such serious claims! How could you lie about something so serious and ruin someone's life with false accusations? I'm finally learning that people can and will bend the truth to make sensational claims, and somehow they justify it to themselves. We'll never know what is actually the truth here. I hope everyone has healing, because certainly, everyone involved (Armie, alleged victims, and their respective families) has been put through it since the story broke and the public went nuts.

I know but I think the article that a lot of his online haters refused to read was devastating to his accusers because it contained and mentioned a lot of material that contradicted them like the complete messages that his main accuser edited before posting them online: she just seemed very implicated in the relationship and even instigating a lot of the acts; There are also the photos by her and even mainstream photo agencies of her literally following him (apparently against his wishes: he has the messages) during a press tour in Europe AFTER he allegedly violently raped her and let her traumatized. She also happily posted photos on social media with his co-stars; And then there was all the new information not made public and completely ignored by most of the press: FBI interviews of the woman and the wife trying to implicating him in imaginary crimes against some imaginary little girls (seriously, the girls and the crimes never existed: no bodies, no complains, nothing but they declared that they heard or read somewhere that some girls disappeared near where he lived so they suspected he killed them and I guess probably eaten them!); they apparently working together against him gaining the rights to see his kids but still him winning them with the authorities who investigated him saying they didn’t found anything that suggested he was a danger to kids; a close friend of the wife confessing she helped her to post lies on Internet because she thought she was helping her to escape a bad marriage but then realizing it was a premeditated act in a horrible custody fight, etc.
Then there were the other bizarre accusers taken seriously by the press and social media: one of them admitted she never actually met him but that she was sure he would had raped her if she had so she decided to tell the world he did! How it’s possible that someone like her was never questioned by the press which didn’t doubted to post the very over the top stuff about him! I think it’s very worrying! I mean this guy is a huge idiot and not very sympathetic but it’s still very unfair and it shows how easily could happen to anyone if the press/social media decides they don’t like him/you. There was also a male accuser that also seemed he never met with him or had any contact but I don’t think he was promoted by media like her. The only “credible” ones were the more low key two remaining accusers but their stories weren’t so extreme or bizarre and they probably didn’t sue him because at worst their cases were about power imbalance with a very creepy older celebrity who was into S&M but, you know, they consented the relationships at the time and they admitted they did and later regretted it.
You can’t indeed never know for sure but IMHO the creepiest part of this one (and there is a lot of creepy stuff here!) is that it was a very questionable and over the top case since the beginning but press professionals never stopped to think if there was an issue with it. They went to social media to promote the “victims” (even the one who later confessed that didn’t even meet him!), they copied and pasted the same uncritical article like they always do, they made one sided salacious documentary about his evil bloodline that apparently explained his evilness (including interviews with an aunt that he claims he also never met and who it seems has an ancient conflict with the family) but just forgot to do their job and do questions and when someone did it, attacked him! That’s the worst part to me! I mean the guy himself probably was asking for getting in trouble with his lifestyle and unfaithfulness and, again, he isn’t a nice guy but the press and social media being uncritical because the false narrative is just too good to resist and it confirms all their biases is extremely problematic.

Wow, Sgev! You're kind of blowing my mind. There are so many details I was unaware of!
I stumbled onto this stuff when it was blowing up, and though the cannibalism was obviously a wild claim that didn't hold up, I did think he might have assaulted and raped the victims because of the fact that multiple women described him the same way (which reminded me of how Weinstein's victims all described him the same way). I stopped following the story after the initial shock because I found the discourse around it really disturbing. People were sharing their personal stories of abuse and I couldn't stomach it, tbh. It's jarring to see a whole bunch of people detail their assaults and it made me stressed and depressed.
I came away with no real informed opinion, but I did believe there was evidence against him and the police would investigate, which would then correct the narrative if it was wrong, or confirm it if it was right. How wrong that conclusion was, because it seems people are now fuming about the charges being dropped! The facts don't matter, the public have decided he is guilty already. I think because we also have so many actual abusers (Danny, Nick Carter, Jared Leto)* that it's easy to think Armie might have been another one. *Only the first of those confirmed, but the other two are being accused of rape of minors, if I'm not mistaken.
Now that you explained his wife was conspiring with the accusers...ugh I feel sick. The idea that people could fabricate this kind of thing, without ever stopping to think how awful what they're doing is, and how they're going to completely destroy someone's career, life, reputation, everything...it's just unbelievable. Whatever happened to personal principles and decency?
You're (always) right about social media frenzies and the press not investigating properly before reporting. They are being blatantly biased because crazy headlines get the most clicks and that's their primary concern these days. I always appreciate that you remind us of those elements because I, for one, am so used to this now that I don't notice when social media and the tabloid press is controlling the narrative and contorting the facts! I have fallen for that trap so many times myself (including just this past week with the Schofield scandal), because I always seem to believe if the mainstream press are reporting it, then there must be credible evidence behind the story- after all, why would they risk their journalistic integrity? I suppose I'm thinking of journalism as what it used to be, not what it is in this day and age, which evidently is all tabloid fodder, very little integrity, respect or even accountability in some cases.
It really is worrying to think how much power the court of public opinion has these days and how easily the facts are buried.

I'm not very informed about Schofield case. I know he was fired for a "relationship" with a "boy" and that people and companies are breaking any links with him. I don't know the age of the victim except that he should be a minor if it's a scandal but I don't think there's a legal case against him, right? Maybe I'm wrong. If he abused of a kid is still awful, of course.
About Hammer. It seems he is an all around ass that probably felt untouchable but it also seems that people who hated him, some who knew him others that not, really wanted revenge against him and took advantage of the extremist times we are living.
This is the article. I don't have any special interest on him but I read it because people were saying no one should read it! The conclusion of the prosecution kinda fits better with this piece than with the extreme and bonker narrative online,

The Schofield case is ongoing and there is an investigation, I believe, but no charges yet. Hopefully all this gossip is incorrect and nobody has been abused. Thank you for sharing the article. I'll read it.
