Snow!

Ok - I just saw my neighbour taking back his garbage and recycling, and I checked online - again - and they finally announced that garbage collection is cancelled for us this week. So I went back out to get it. You’d never know I had shovelled earlier!
My neighbour then cleared off his van and began shovelling. Surprisingly, his teenage son joined him and they’re now out there together. The boy did sit down to take a break after a few minutes, but he’s back at it again!

The dad finally sat down to take a break, while his son continues shovelling. The daughter, though, is at the window, waving at them from inside. I think she’s 8 or 9.

I was thinking of you today mllemass. Wondering how you'd be with all this snow!
BTW: the difference between a blizzard and a snow storm is the wind. If the wind reaches a certain velocity it make a "snow event" to be classified as a blizzard.
We didn't get a flake of snow here. In fact it was milder today than it has been in a couple of days. It actually got close to 0°C! , -2°C without the windchill factored in (with the windchill it's-8°C).

Snow!

The snow ended a couple of hours earlier than they had said, so I went back out for an hour to clean the snow off my car. The snow was about two feet deep, so all the cars looked like cartoon cars. It was dry snow rather that wet and heavy, so it tumbled off easily. But I now have all of that snow on the driveway, surrounding my car. I just couldn’t do any more! The plow came by earlier, and even though I was out there watching that he didn’t pile all the snow in front of our driveway, he still left way more snow than he should have. I think I just want to leave it all there until it eventually melts on its own!
But in reality, tomorrow morning I’ll go back out and shovel around my car. And then later I’ll do the rest of the driveway.

The tv news just said that we had a “significant weather event” - whatever that means! They said we had 40 cm of snow, but whenever they give amounts of snow, it’s at least twice that amount in real life.

That video is hilarious! I love overly dramatic kids. I was wondering how he could wear glasses to shovel snow. Don’t they get wet? I have to take mine off when I go out and shovel. Maybe kids aren’t bothered by lenses that aren’t perfectly clean and dry.

In case any of you were wondering how my snow situation is going, I’m done! I was out for 1 1/2 hours this morning and dug out my car. I only had to shovel half the driveway because the snow plow had dumped a huge pile of snow blocking the other half. I’m willing to shovel my property, but I refuse to shovel the street! I remember one particularly cold winter when the snow just refused to melt, and we were running out of places to put it. That spring, when the snow finally melted, we found a Christmas tree, with tinsel still on it, on our curb! I guess one of our neighbours had put it out to be collected, but it had snowed and the plow driver picked it up with all the other snow and dumped it on our front lawn!
We had another lighter snowfall overnight, of course! I hope the sun today melts it quickly. Everything hurts now!

My arms are still a bit sore from shovelling, but feeling a lot better today!
They have now issued a Special Weather Statement:
It never ends!
