Yes ellie, the Prius is a hybrid. Back before covid we usually filled up our gas tank about once a month. Now we do so little driving I think last year we did one fillup for the entire year!
So far the new car has about 23 kilometers on it. That was mainly us driving it home from the dealership and the test run they did when they got the car ready for us. It's going to take a looooong while it get any type of mileage on it, I think. We haven't taken it out of the driveway since we got it. Nowhere to go! Lol!

My car is almost 4 years old, and I don’t even have a typical year’s worth of mileage on it! The longest drive I’ve had was to the dealership for service.
Are you familiar yet with all the high tech gadgets on it? I’m not!
When I first bought my latest car, I was kind of scared of driving it. The same week that I brought my car home, there were suddenly news stories about car-jacking taking place - and they took place in parking lots of stores where I usually went. I’m still a bit panicky when I see suspicious people near my car, when in the past I wouldn’t have given them a second thought. I’m being silly, I know.

New car!

I still look out the window to see if it is still in the driveway at least 2 times a day and we live in a VERY low crime area! It's so new and shiny I just think everyone would want to steal it!! Lol! But really on our street someone owns a Tesla so I don't think a Prius is a big "prize" target!
Everyday I go out and sit in it with the manual and learn one or two things about it and try to get familiar with it. Lots of stuff I will just ignore (like all the really technical things about fuel consumption and all that - it gives WAY too much info on that sort of thing... I just want to know that it is "efficient" and that's good enough for me!). I'm trying to learn all the basic stuff right now. And trying to get Dan to drive it! Today I plan to go to the fishmonger and get some fresh fish and I am going to encourage Dan to take the wheel. He's only sat in the driver's seat once and went about 4 feet in the driveway! Then he declared "Now I've driven the car!". 🤣🤣🤣 But he did say the seat was comfy.

I figure that I’ll learn the things my car does as I need them. Like, for example, I knew that it has GPS, but I haven’t needed it. And then one day I accidentally touched the bottom-right of the screen, and a map showed up. And as I drove, a little red arrow on the screen - my car! - moved along the streets. I had no idea there was a map right there the whole time! And it still startles me when I’m sitting in my car and take out my phone to make a call, and I hear the call through my car’s speakers, so I didn’t need to take my phone out of my purse at all.
I had had my previous car for years when my cousin was helping me load something into the back of my car one evening. He said to me “Do you mind if I turn on the light?” I started to tell him “Sorry! There’s no light in the back! It’s such a pain when it’s dark out . . .” , when he reached in and switched the light on! I had no idea there was a light back there! Learning that was life-changing.
