A new rant: I saw a tweet by a verified idiot who claimed this project is a new addition of BC's "bad movies" designed to win awards. His other examples: The Fifth Estate, The Current War, The Courier and... BREXIT!!!
For starters, Brexit is actually a very good movie that was extremely well received by critics and was nominated to multiple awards including the Emmy and the BAFTAs! The polemic around it was because extremists from both sides were angry that the other side were portrayed as humans and not monsters. If anything, it was a bold move by BC because the theme is very divisive and it was still very hot when they did it. BC is a Marvel star who didn't need to do it a project like this but he did it.
The Courier is probably not a masterwork but it was well received by critics. Maybe he believes it's bad. It's OK but it wasn't considered "bad" by the most.
Then there's the award designed accusations! Damn! The obsession of award fanatics of accusing any small adult oriented film that commit the sin of being accessible of being designed for awards is more damaging to artistic projects in general than blockbusters! If they really want people going to the cinema to watch adult stuff instead of kid's flicks, the door is accessible movies! Yes, American indie cinema was great in the 90s (and Tarantino did those "heroic" homophobic attacks against British posh Merchet Ivory movies!) but people used to watch those daring films because they were used to watch adult stuff in general, mainly conventional accesible small films! I think that apart of friendship, is why Scorsese rescued The Current War! Even Scorsese saw a value on it!
Anyway, even when Parasite was BY FAR a much better film than TIG, Bong Joon-ho was much more "obsessed" with the Oscars than BC! The guy went to live to LA for months just to do his campaign! BC was most of the time of his campaign in UK doing a TV series with his friend Dominic Cooke (The Courier director!) instead.
And more important, this new series hasn't been made so this fool is criticizing something does not even exist yet! I bet he hasn't even watched Patrick Melrose nor probably most of the things he claims are "bad"
