I finally finished double blind in our holidays but it was hard to understand for I'm not a native speaker. I had to slow it down a little because benedict is really fast sonetimes. The end is a bit quick, but he did a faboulous job as ever. One of the best readings I ever heard. A real joy to listen to! Btw I love when he does his italian accent!!!

I am in the middle of reading it, about 2/3 through. I started it months ago but other things came up so it’s taking me a long time to finish. I wish I had Benedict’s recording of it!
I agree that it’s hard to understand - and I am a native speaker, so language isn’t the issue. There’s a lot of science talk that’s difficult to get through because science isn’t really my area. Those parts feel like I’m reading a textbook - a fascinating textbook. I do like the way he writes, though, with very long sentences that probably sound fabulous when Benedict says them!

I wonder what you think about the book when you finished it... I'm not sure if I got it right 😳 but really: if anyone has the possibility to listen to the audiobook please do it. Even if you don't understand a word it is fantastic. Benedict inhabits all the characters totally and there are quite a lot of them...

I just finished reading it. I agree that the ending was quick, and also surprisingly optimistic. I was getting worried that it would end on a downer! I suppose it’s a bit like Patrick Melrose in how the ending was handled.
As I had mentioned, to me, it felt like a novel woven within a science textbook.
Off topic: There was a weird coincidence that occurred while I was reading. The day before I reached the part where Lucy finds out she has a brain tumour, a friend told me that she had a brain tumour. (Her surgery was on October 14. It took 5 hours. They were able to remove most, but not all, of the tumour. They sent her home to recover the following week. They still have not told her yet whether it was just a tumour, or whether it is cancer.)

Oh....it's cruel to live with uncertainty. Let's hope she's lucky..... I can't take not knowing. I think also Lucy didn't get the pages she deserved. And it seems to me that science wasn't as important as it seemed to be in the beginning. Maybe I just start again listening.... I love Guido, Sebastian, Hope hunter and all the others....but most Guido!!!

I just got an update from my friend:
Good news! Her brain tumour tuned out to be benign - yay! There was 5% of it they couldn’t remove because of where it’s located, so there’s less than a 5% chance that it will eventually turn into something more serious. They also told her it could take 6-12 months to fully recover from the surgery. That should help her stop worrying that her recovery is going too slowly.

I bought this in the last Audible sale and haven't listened to it yet. The sample clip was nice, though!
