Also very nice words about BC by Alberto Barbera. He says something along the lines (I’m paraphrasing, not the exact words!) that the film is very difficult and that BC’s character is very unpleasant and very different for him and that he confirms his huge talent with it.
The press conference is still going but I guess the recording will be available soon!

I love Criterion using BC’s image to announce their festival piece!

This is hysterical! At least I’m ignoring something, there are only two Netflix films! I think Screendaily was more on point about the line-up!

And there is a Mexican in the Official Selection! Latin Americans were totally ignored at Cannes!
He isn’t exactly the most popular or beloved Mexican filmmaker but he clearly is loved at Venice and he is still a Mexican! Lol
EDITED
And Pablo Larrain is also there, of course!
EDITED
There are actually two Mexican films in the main competition. The other one directed by Venezuelan Lorenzo Vigas. So I’m counting now three Latin American meanwhile Cannes totally ignored us!
Ok. Four with Competencia Oficial, the film with Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz. It’s a Spain-Argentine production and the director is from Argentina.
That’s all, I think! Lol

I think the NYT piece about the line-up suggests BC is playing an American anti-narcotics agent working in Mexico! *Facepalm*
