It's a Canadian premiere so it sounds like it will also be in Telluride!

I just renewed my TIFF membership! It’s been a couple of years since I last renewed it, and the set-up seems to have changed. We’ll see how it goes!
I can’t imagine that these premieres will be the same as the other times I attended - big crowds of people squashed together hoping to get photos or autographs as the celebrities arrive.

Telluride doesn’t announce its line-up until the last moment so it won’t be official until then. They are a much more “elitist” festival because supposedly it’s not easy to go there for press and most audiences. But, a good number of Academy members go there or even live there. So it’s considered very important for the Oscar race. The quality is slightly better than Toronto. I mean, they have had some conventional films but usually they are the kind of convencional well made films that end in the Oscar race (and not the ones that fail like a lot in Toronto!). Of course, I hope Louis Wain isn’t a conventional bio AT ALL! They have a guest that selects the films. This year is Barry Jenkins. We will see!
Supposedly, Netflix has a lot of movies there this year and people are sure TPOTD will be there but I noticed that this year it will be almost at the same time that Venice so if that’s the case the movie will be screened in the early days at Venice (I doubt it would be shown at Telluride first!) I’m thinking that maybe it will be released at NYFF in North America first! (at the end of September, early October). That festival seems more obvious for someone like Campion. I don’t remember BC having a film at NYFF before! He had films at Venice, Toronto and Telluride before.

Also for all the Canadian members of this site, apparently people from Canada will have virtual access to the festival and “most”of the films will be shown both at movie theaters and on VOD. Hopefully, you can watch the films even if you can’t physically go to the festival!

A lot of positive comments and a few disparaging ones just because it committed the sin of being a bio. One infamous film journalist (hated by everyone out there!) wrote in its blog how the movie and most of the other titles are examples of Toronto secondary role in the Fall festivals. Ironically, he claims Telluride is one of the good ones so what he thinks the “Canadian premiere” means? Which other important North American festival happens before Toronto? But yeah, it’s a “British bio” so “forget it”!
