Focus Features is going for a poc spot. Haha, my mean take.
I hated Schrader getting original script Oscar for something which was clearly adapted (and the first part, very closely). He never denied it, btw, I have no problem with him. I liked First Reformed and Ethan Hawke was excellent.

I just remembered someone on the IMDb forums that posed as an Oscar expert and claimed that BC was obviously feigned his marriage because he was hungry for that award and only married men win Oscars. Her proof: Leonardo DiCaprio never winning an Oscar at that point. I told her that it wasn’t true and that there were multiple examples that contradict her from a 50 something years old Al Pacino to a 30 something Daniel Day Lewis and, of course, the owner of the record of most Oscar nominations and most Oscar wins (shared with others) is the eternal single Jack Nicholson! Obviously, that didn’t convince her and I guess nothing won’t convince award fanboys but I can’t avoid hating the way they inadvertently influenced deluded people into believe all that shit and just because a silly guessing game!

Netflix recently bought it. After it was announced for Venice. If you remember, Netflix didn’t included it then on their tweets about their films at the festival.
The film is based on a book by the same author of My Brilliant Friend, which I found soapy but also beautifully sordid and complex.
It seems Netflix recently opened social media accounts for TPOTD so the new images and probably a trailer are imminent. Also an actual date! I imagine it will be early December considering Gyllenhaal film and Don’t Look Up are scheduled for late December and the early announced movies are scheduled for November.

These are the official scheduled Netflix movies in November and December, according to Wikipedia:
The films on dark are those which are considered Oscar friendly.
They haven’t added The Lost Daughter which we now know will be on streaming on December 31th.
There is a rumor that Don’t Look Up will be on Netflix on Christmas based on some Playlist article and the director already confirmed it will be added on December. It sounds more logic this comedy full of movie stars will be their Christmas movie than the dark and disturbing TPOTD but sometime ago, another Playlist article claimed TPOTD would be released on the Netflix platform on December 24th! Lol
I think the other “Oscar movies” pending of a date apart of those two are Rebecca Hall’s Passing and The Hand of God.
They could buy something else in the next month, of course!

Also,
The Hardest They Fall will open London Film Festival
Tick, tick…boom will open AFI Festival
Bruised was released last year at TIFF
Passing was at Sundance.
The Lost Daughter will premiere at Venice Film Festival as TPOTD and The Hand of God
And Don’t Look Up is starred by Leonardo DiCaprio so it doesn’t need any festival!

Another day, another Netflix
I really loved The Great Beauty so yeah, I’m excited for this and Maggie Gyllenhaal movie… apart of TPOTD, of course!

More news:
NYFF added a bunch of films today including Dune, The Lost Daughter and, finally, Cmon, Cmon, the Joaquin Phoenix film that a lot of award pundits were claiming was an Oscar front runner but was nowhere. Allegedly this film will also be at Telluride. That’s the same case of The Lost Daughter.
The last film is almost in the same number of festivals than TPOTD now, with the exception of Toronto and London (for now and if it’s indeed added to Telluride line-up). That’s the same case of Dune although supposedly it won’t be at Telluride. We will see!

If this calendar is true, TPOTD should be on Netflix the first or second week of December. They are programming the films on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Marriage Story was released on the streaming on December 6th and Roma on December 14th. I’m mentioning these films because those two were the ones that went to the same festivals than TPOTD and it seems Netflix is managing it in a similar way.
