I saw the second largest meteorite I ever saw last night while Dan and I were walking! It was exciting to see this large bright ball streak across the sky! Brief but special. It was too quick for Dan to see it - by the time I shouted and pointed to it , it was GONE!
The largest one was about 6 years ago and both of us saw that one. We were driving back from my sister's home in Windsor, out in farmland territory and an absolutely HUGE one streaked right across our slight line! I had my eyes closed at first but the fireball was SO bright I saw it through my closed eyelids!! Dan shouted as he was driving and I immediately opened my eyes and caught sight of this white green glowing ball. Unbelievably spectacular!
We also witnessed meteor shower one time in a little village called Bayfield. They have a long pier on their harbour and the place is so small there isn't a lot of light pollution, so it's an ideal place for star gazing. We went out to the end of the pier and laid down on it and watched the sky for hours, counting the pin light streaks across the sky! Amazing!
