I think it’s deceiving to call it a “light” movie when it turns very dark and deals with mental illness. Whoever wrote that description has only watched the trailer. And it’s not about cats (sorry if that’s a spoiler for you!) Really, though, there aren’t a lot of cats in the movie!

I agree that the subject matter is more serious than this reviewer took it to be.
About the cats... no matter how many cats there are in the film, I think it's safe to say that there were too many for BC! Lol!

We never see cats in the movie without Benedict in the scene, so yes he’s the one cast member who had the most contact with them. And there are comical scenes with cats which aren’t shown in the trailer so I won’t spoil it for you.
I think the kitten he said he wanted to take home was little Peter. I remember reading somewhere that they had put out a casting call for cats while filming, so I think they got several cats and kittens that looked alike to play Peter at different ages. And there are some funny-looking cats in the cat show scene, where we’ve seen the photo of Benedict posing with the fluffy white cat.
As I’ve said before, I found the movie heart-breaking. I know they tried to make it uplifting at the end, but I just couldn’t get over the suffering he had endured in his long life, after only a few short years of joy.
But maybe it’s just me . . .

Well, mllemass, for now at least, it probably is just you because most of the rest of us haven't seen the movie. 😘
I can't wait to see it! It's so great that BC got to work under the direction of Will Sharpe. I think this film could be a perfect marriage of the artistic sensibility of the director with such a flexible, committed actor.
