I have an old friend who has moved to the US, but returns occasionally to visit. During one of those visits, we went out for dinner and I told/bored her with my meeting-Benedict story. She then topped my story with a story about her love for Hugh Laurie. The guy from House?? Yes, she said she was a huge fan of his, and the year before, her husband surprised her with front-row tickets to see him perform with his musical group. The guy from House is a musician?? Yes, she said it was the greatest night of her life, and she even got to meet him and talk to him and everything.

Just popping in to boast that I have heard of both Arctic Monkeys AND Florence + the Machine even at the ripe old age of 55. Has anyone here looked up a band that BC liked out of curiosity, and found you really liked them? I love Alt-J, and hadn't heard of them before he did that "tesselate" hand gesture on the Sherlock set, that had everyone wondering if he was practicing to direct. Likewise JD McPherson, after BC went to that concert in Oklahoma and then wore the t-shirt. I never cared for Sigur Ros, though. Not sure who he is listening to these days.

I thought you all would like to know that I listened to this this afternoon. Not for 10 hours, but they sure do a pretty good job lining the lip movements up with the words.

Yes, he introduced me to Sigur Ros ⦠well he and the Third Star trailer, Elbow and JD McPherson. JD put out a Christmas album that has what are now some of my favorite Christmas songs āwhatās that soundā and āall the gifts I needā which I have in rotation all year m.youtube.com/watch?v=bUNLDnTzQzUAlso, not a BC recommendation (it was actually an Apple Celebrity Playlist from Rainn Wilson that introduced me to him ) but Josh Ritter is in rotation for me again these days, including an acoustic version of āShowboatā which make me think of Phil from TPOTD. Ritter described āthis character came into my mind who was kind of a loud big talking , hard-living guy who secretly was incredibly fragile insideā āthis heartbroken guy whoās sinking, scramblingā¦ā. The version I have he sings it solo, with a gruff, deep twangy voice (heās from Idaho, so he can do a twang well) which makes it more Phil-like. And also in the mix: Yo Yo Ma, Lake Street Dive, Leon Bridges, Patty Griffin and as always Bruce Cockburn who Iāve been into for a long long time.

Thanks for the inspo Hannah Lee. Sigur Ros now playing for me...never heard of them, so this will be fun. š For a sense of the BC / Third Star / Sigur Ros connection, hereās the first fan video I saw which incorporates Jonsiās song Tornado with BCās film Third Star. Itās really well done. m.youtube.com/watch?v=F-VS3Z8mHiQ

I have this video saved on YouTube, and have watched/listened to/sung along with it probably hundreds of times. Itās one of my favourite songs from Phantom of the Opera - a duet, but he sings it on his own here. I didnāt realize that heās the one who played Raoul in the movie! I love one of the comments saying that he looks and sounds like a Disney prince. Ha!
