I still don’t know if I’ll be able to get away and see it. I hope so!

I just got home from seeing The Electrical Life of Louis Wain - for a total of 4 times now. There was no need to worry about being packed together with strangers because there were maybe 30 people in the audience. A friend of mine who sees movies there a lot said that it’s typical for that theatre, so today was no different,
It continues to be a beautiful, sad movie. In fact, it gets sadder with repeated viewings. At times, I found myself saying the dialogue (in my head, of course) along with the characters and even before the characters, so I’ve already memorized it! A woman in the row behind me laughed very loudly at anything even remotely funny, which was funny in itself.
It had been my plan to ask about possibly getting the movie poster when the theatre was finished with it. But when I got there, I saw that they didn’t even have a Louis Wain poster displayed. They did have TPOTD though! I asked the girl at the ticket counter what they did with the posters after they were taken down, and she said “Nothing”. When I asked her if I would be able to have one, she said to ask her boss. “Who would that be?”, I asked her. She pointed to a teenage boy vacuuming the carpet. (He probably wasn’t a teenager, but up close he looked even younger than he did from across the room.) So when he came over, I asked him about their poster policy. He said it shouldn’t be a problem, and then asked which one I wanted. I told him I wanted the Louis Wain poster, but I didn’t see it. He said they never received it. So I said TPOTD instead, and he said “You must be a Benedict Cumberbatch fan”. How could he tell? Ha!
He said they’d probably be showing TPOTD in late November, and after that they would contact me about getting the poster. He said he thought they received two of the posters, so they could sell me one. SELL? I know he just made that up as we were speaking, because it just occurred to him to make some money out of the deal. I have NEVER paid for posters or any other advertising items. The theatre doesn’t pay for them, and they’re garbage once they’re taken down, so I don’t think they’re even allowed to sell them. But now this teenager wants me to pay for their garbage! It’s not going to happen. In any case, he gave me a piece of paper for me to write my contact information, and said he would let me know when I can get it.

Well, I just checked and the closest cinema playing TELoLW is about one hour drive from our home. And it's playing in a really small "arts" theatre with an extremely small seating capacity, so even if it was 1/2 full it would be crowded.
The next closest cinema playing it is another almost 100 km away so more than a two hour drive. In ordinary times we probably would have done it (and stayed overnight in a hotel) but these aren't ordinary times!
So, I'm definitely waiting until I can see it on Amazon Prime video.

I was really hoping it would play in our neighbourhood theatre, a few blocks away, but instead I had to drive 10 minutes to a different part of the city - so I can’t complain! When I looked it up, the next closest theatre was near Toronto. They’re showing it all week, in between screenings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show!
It looks like TPOTD will be shown in the same places.
