Just seen House of Gucci. It’s got something of a pasting in reviews but I loved it. Great story, fabulous Italian locations, buckets of glamour and excellent performances even if the accents were dodgy and Jared Leto was a tad irritating. Maybe the critics were looking for something deeper but I was thoroughly entertained and that’s enough for me.
Plus it struck me that Adam Driver and BC are quite similar. Both fantastic actors. Both not conventionally handsome but very attractive and sexy nonetheless. And both keep their life off screen very private. Would love to see them in a movie together.

Even if it got raves reviews by everyone, I wouldn’t be able to tolerate hearing Italian characters speaking English to each other in bad accents. I stayed away from the Versace series for the same reason.
Also, I think Benedict and AD are the exact opposites in appearance. Benedict might not be conventionally handsome, but he has beautiful features and the profile of a Greek god. Whereas proportions of AD’s face - where his eyes, nose mouth are located - are “off”.
(I should probably explain that I’ve spent my life studying faces so that I could draw them. Most faces have their features in generally the same area, but of course there are differences that make you look like you and not like anyone else. So when I draw someone, I look first for how their face varies from the generic face.)

So when I draw someone, I look first for how their face varies from the generic face.) Oooh! That's fascinating to me. Do you draw faces upside down? I ask because the only two people I knew who could sketch portraits always did it upside down and then turned the finished piece right side up. I've been fascinated by that for years, lol! Ever draw BC? Sorry if this is something already shared on the forum, I haven't seen any thread for artwork. No, I’ve never drawn faces upside down. I understand the purpose of that exercise - to force you to be observant and draw what you see and not what you think you know is there. But that would mean drawing from a photograph. We were trained to draw from real life, so unless we told our models to stand on their heads, we did not learn to draw upside down. Drawing from photographs was a big no-no when I was an art student - unless you were the one who took the photo. They were very strict about that, and I still believe in that today. Having said that, of course I’ve drawn Benedict! Over the years, I’ve drawn lots of other celebrities, too - almost all of them from photos that I didn’t take. I was always worried that my art teacher would know that I had cheated, so I rarely submitted those drawings as assignments. I only did it if I was fairly sure they wouldn’t recognize who I had drawn. And sometimes I got lucky and actually did have celebrity photos that I took myself - like when I saw actor/comedian Martin Mull perform on stage many years ago (I loved him!). I turned the photo I took of him seated on stage, playing the guitar, into a series of Lino prints for my printmaking class. And I turned a photo I took of Barry Manilow singing on stage into a woodcut print, with lettering (in reverse, of course), for the same class.

But I guess it’s more tolerable if you’re less familiar with how the accent should sound. As for BC and AD. The alignment of their features isn’t really relevant to the point I was making I wasn’t saying they looked alike. I was saying that neither fits the general definition of handsome. Yet both are very attractive.

Walter Chaw never fails to nail it! www.filmfreakcentral.net/ffc/2021/11/house-of-gucci-benedetta.html“Indeed, House of Gucci is prime grist for the headliner in a midnight call-along, or the feature presentation in a future episode of "MST3K"--although, at two-and-a-half hours, I worry the same jokes would keep getting recycled, most of them about the accents, a few of them about sex-pest Jared Leto's turn as Paolo Gucci, buried beneath a ton of prosthetics that make him look on the outside what he is on the inside. (Here's the punchline: Leto steals the movie.) A deadly drinking game could be devised from the times Pacino's accent slips from hilarious Italian to Al Pacino to, during a weird funeral scene, Bela Lugosi Transylvanian. There's a scene in the last half of the film where Paolo groans into an airport payphone, "I got to wash! If you could smell-a between my groins, you'd-a unnerstan!" while Aldo makes the "c'mon" expression trying to get his attention, and then later Aldo gives Paolo, his little Fredo, the "you disappointed the hell out of me" kiss of death and, again, it's... Well, it's notably, spectacularly terrible is what it is. And I liked it.”

You meant to put that in a quote, right? It doesn’t quite sound like you, so I went onto the link and it was from the article!

Finally got to watch it. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did, lol! Owing in no small part to Gaga who is a very watchable, entertaining actress; she really breathed life into the movie, even if I find all of her clickbait headlines incredibly silly lol. I agree with ellie that the accents were dodgy, Leto was irritating, and Driver was handsome 🤭 I do agree with the consensus though, that the movie is much too long and could have benefited from snappier editing.
