I just re-watched TPOTD, and wondered about the other times he has sung in a role. This is my list so far:
-TPOTD -August Osage County -The Simpsons (Panic on the Streets of Springfield) -The Grinch
Any others?
Maybe The Courier? When he takes the visiting Russians for an evening out, there’s lots of singing and dancing. He dances, but I don’t remember if he sings, too.
Does Sherlock ever sing?

I remember he sang as the Angel Islington in that radio play of Neverwhere, but I can't find a youtube clip at the moment.
EDIT: Found it literally after I posted this, lol:

Maybe we should post videos just to compare,
Obviously the better ones are from The Simpsons! I mean the best produced ones because he is playing a singer,
I haven’t watched The Grinch so I don’t know in which scene he sings!

I also found his SNL monologue. I haven’t watched it since it was originally aired and… is he crying?!
There is a comment by I assume a fan saying he was very innocent at the beginning and now he swears like a sailor! No, that’s just a fan fantasy inspired on BBC/PBS productions a la Downtown Abbey! Lol He actually swore more at the beginning because he was less controlled during his interviews! But I remember journalists also being surprised then because they thought he would be a perfect high class British gentleman or something! On tele other hand, I can’t imagine Tom Hiddleston or Eddie Redmayne talking like that but maybe it’s because I haven’t heard their interviews!

He sang in TTEOTE and I think in Amazing Grace as well (or maybe he just stood on a chair and spoke loudly? Probably time for a rewatch. It’s been years since I’ve seen that film and he gives a really charming performance)
ETA if we’re counting interviews he sang in an ABC one: Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka.

If we count the real-life singing, there would be lots for sure!
Yes, it’s time to re-watch everything - for research purposes, of course!
I think some of those roles might have drunken singing scenes. Or maybe chanting. Did Amazing Grace or Stuart a Life Backwards have a protest song?
What about Cabin Pressure? Surely he sang in that! Or was it just Douglas who sang?

I think they sing "Fly me to the Moon" or "That's Amore"? Roger Allam dings one of them and all of them sing the other!

Allam just read the lyrics of Fly me to the Moon!
Anyway, I think he does the chorus here,
