Have you learned nothing from the thousands of times Benedict has told his kidnapping story?? The last time he told it, he said that they had stopped on the side of the road because of a flat tire, thinking they couldn’t drive on it. He then turned to face the camera and said, yes you can drive on a flat tire!
I can relate to this because my 2017 vehicle keeps telling me that all 4 of my tires are low. And my battery is low. And a bunch of other warnings and signals. It has done this since I bought it new. At first, I called the dealership where I bought it (an hour away), and the service department assured me that all those signals and warnings are nothing to worry about. I’m only getting them because I park my car outdoors in the winter. But, they said, I could take it to any garage and have them check the tires, just to be sure. That’s what I did. They found one of my tires a bit low and inflated it, and they charged me nothing. I’ve done that very year since I’ve owned that car. I’ve been procrastinating because I’m avoiding driving in snow, but I really need for them to look at my tires.
Lately, I’ve been regretting buying a car with so many signals and warnings for every little thing, but then it occurred to me that they probably make all cars that way now!

Mine is definitely going to brick itself like an old cell phone one day. (It also tells me every morning that I need an Inspection at the dealer and I just ignore it like I have been ignoring it for 2 years because of COVID).

sgev1977, you are referencing Snowpiercer the movie, right? Not Snowpiercer the 3 season TV show? It appears that one is supposed to watch the movie and then the TV show, but I want to make sure I watch the right one! (Also, scruffy Chris Evans? Yum. Er, wait, I am way more tasteful than that. What is a fancy word for yum?)

Mine is definitely going to brick itself like an old cell phone one day. (It also tells me every morning that I need an Inspection at the dealer and I just ignore it like I have been ignoring it for 2 years because of COVID). Last summer (2020), when I brought in my car for its annual service, the engine light came on as I drove home from the dealership. The light wasn’t on before I brought it in. I phoned and told them, so they asked me to bring it back. I said I didn’t want to drive it all that way with the engine warning light on, and they said no problem - they would send a tow truck to pick it up! And that’s what they did! When they were finished with it, they returned my car to me the same way - on a flat-bed tow truck. Apparently, the warranty that came with the car covers that. It turns out that the engine wasn’t the problem - just the warning light! Yes, just like in Cabin Pressure! A year later, I got a letter in the mail from the dealership telling me that there was a recall for my vehicle. There was a flaw that has the engine warning light come on when the engine is fine, exactly what happened to me the previous year. They said that the manufacturer was covering the cost of the repair, and if anyone had already paid to have it repaired, they would refund the money. I hadn’t paid anything, so I was ok. Then, they said, they were adding a page to the vehicle’s warranty saying that this warning light issue would be covered by the manufacturer for something like 30 years!

Our brand new car told us the tire pressure was low, and I called the dealership and they told me it was probably because of the extremely cold weather we've been having. Visually there didn't seem to be be any problem and they said that new technology makes the warning systems VERY sensitive and often they are triggered when things aren't that serious.
They were more than happy to check my tire pressure and top up the tires if they needed it. When I got around to seeing them, they found one tire down a bit - but still within the amount that they said might be lost due to the cold (3-5 pounds of pressure). They topped them up, no charge.
And we haven't had any problems so far despite the continued frigid temperatures.
We're paranoid about tires because our last car gave us all types of tire trouble. Don't get me wrong, we LOVED the car itself and it never gave us a lick of trouble except those damn tires. When we finally got rid of it we had to pump air in the tires almost every day! We bought a small air pump that worked on the power of the car and we still have it, so if we have tire pressure trouble again we can just pump it up ourselves.
And yes, we've driven on a totally flat tire as well. We just drove very slowly and not very far. Just enough to get us to a service station.

I first learned this one time when I got a flat tire on a very busy highway at rush hour. When the tow truck arrived, the first thing he told me to do was to drive my car farther ahead, where there was a section of the highway with a much wider shoulder. Really? I questioned whether that would wreck my car, like I had always thought. He said it was fine. I had to drive another minute or so, and take my car completely off the road where it was much safer for him to change my tire.
