I don’t really understand this. If you don’t like Marvel movies, don’t watch them. (Not you sgev. The general “you.”) They’re easy to avoid on social media and so what if a giant corporation makes movies you don’t like? Why is that upsetting? Why does everyone have to chime in about it? Disney’s been making the same old stuff ever since Walt died anyway (singing pablum cartoon modern fairy tales). Now they’ve added CBMs. So what? What’s more upsetting to me is Disney’s sheer size and their ownership of massive media chains, not if Superhero flicks are important or not. They’re important to people who find them important. Isn’t that enough?
There’s still tons of good and even great movies being made, in Hollywood and abroad. Especially international films. Lots to chose from. What is it with media chasing clicks trying to create drama between actors and famous directors over some nonsense? Nobody ever asked William Wyler or John Ford if he thought some other genre was shit.
This whole thing is truly confounding to me.

Yes, that’s the issue, doesn’t? There is a problem with what kind of movies are green lighted and how traditional way of consuming films is changing but everything is reduced to “I hate superheroes movies” or “Movies should be pure entertainment!” (Paraphrasing Tom Hollan in Spain!)

What is it with media chasing clicks trying to create drama between actors and famous directors over some nonsense? Nobody ever asked William Wyler or John Ford if he thought some other genre was shit. This whole thing is truly confounding to me. This is my opinion in a nutshell. I hate (and yes, I know that's a strong word, but it describes my feelings exactly!) musical films - can't stand that genre, in fact... so I just don't watch them! My biggest complaint this Oscar season is not about Marvel and CBM (although I'm NOT a big fan of those kind of movies) it's that there are too many musicals - waaaaay too many for my liking! It's really cut into my viewing selection this year. Can someone like musicals and find pleasure in viewing them? Sure! Can someone even find artistic value in them? Sure! Not me, but then, movies aren't made just for me! Does it make me want to rant all over the internet at everyone who likes them? No. I can make my views known when discussions are happening but once that's done I'm out of the discussion because I don't have any interest in haranguing someone just because they like a type of movie that I find totally ridiculous. Life's just to short to spend it in anger. Personally I wish people would just watch a movie and enjoy it for what it is and stop trying to decide from the first teaser if it was "award winning" or not. Or if the director was worthy or not. Or if the actor used method or not. I don't mind discussing the film at all. Looking into its themes, motifs and production skills, etc. is not only entertaining but also an essential part of "after enjoyment" of viewing a film. But the madness of all these "pundits" making competitive declarations about the ABSOLUTE worthiness of one film over another is just irritatingly boring to me. It almost seems like they are trying to "weaponize" one film (one actor, one director) over another. And, to me, that's wrong. And this penchant of some in the entertainment media for wanting to draw out opinions from actors, directors etc. about the worthiness of one genre over another is just part of some manufactured "outrage war" and it's sad that that's what is considered film comment nowadays.

Slightly OT but Scorsese is mentioned here and TH is Marvel/Sony. I saw the last tweet and I thought they were saying BC didn't understand film and I went crazy fan mood: "excuse me, he wrote a dissertation on Kubrick and even his daughter said he was shockingly great and knowledgeable doing an improvised speech during an event for the Kubrick exhibition a few years ago!"
But no! They are talking about Holland! Lol What he said about Tom Cruise?!Anyway I don't agreed his career is in trouble at all. It's the total opposite! Right now, he is the biggest star in the world! I remember that people used said that the biggest proof that someone was a movie star was having a hit with a bad movie. Not with one good one (well reviewed)! He just had both!

Lol. He is so cute and small that you imagine that he is very humble and noble but he actually says some very megalomaniac stuff!

He is again at the top of American box office with a panned movie called Uncharted. The one that "saved cinema"! Lol. It did $50 millions only in the USA and it's also very strong in international territories.
Spider-Man is the "good one" that indeed would had been a hit with or without him.

New trailer dropped for Thor: Love & Thunder. Looks kinda messy, lol, but I love Thor so I’m in.

I am looking forward to this movie, too! It might be a hot mess, but so am I, so that is a-ok.
