is Netflix funding Campion’s pop out school! I loved that they did that. We could see her relationship with Netflix in the Oscars campaign, but it was really proven when they funded her dream. I don't even understand why people on social media hate Netflix so much. It kept everyone sane during lockdowns, lol! I think it could be in part because the Dave Chappelle controversy. He did a special that was a major hit but offended some activists and when some workers threatened them, they just stood by him (one worked leaked internal stuff about payments and was fired then she claimed she was discriminated; some other workers quit. They did a “massive” protest but it wasn’t very massive at all). I saw a film critic said that Netflix was losing viewers because transphobic comedians but that’s ridiculous because Chappelle and now Ricky Gervais specials were actually extremely popular with general audiences even if Twitter hated them. It’s clear Netflix is investing a lot on comedians because they attract audiences. And on the other side, you have Conservatives claiming they are losing viewers because they went woke! So again, it’s just Internet being deluded and projecting their prejudices and hate: they are failure because they don’t do what I want! I think it was affected by both the end of the forced lockdown and the competition. Both Disney and HBO just recently consolidated themselves. Anyway, if its scheme fails it will only predict the failing of its competition so I don’t think Hollywood should celebrate a failure now that they went all for streaming.

I didn't know that about Jude! Can you just harass someone until they hire you? I should try that! lol And now I think that BC is lucky that, if he also “harassed” Anderson, he got a lead role! Did you get the impression he did? I felt it was more organic and they chose to work with each other, but I'm only basing this on soundbites of interviews with BC, not any actual information. I don’t think they literally “harassed” them! Lol I just think that’s the term (or something similar) he used! Maybe I’m wrong! I remember he said he frequently asked him for a role and that he send him a lot of letters and it reminds me to BC joking about he making sure Paul Thomas Anderson knows he wants to work with him and that he probably is tired of him. I’m sure it was organic like he and Jane Campion. He seems perfect for the Henry Sugar role anyway. Poor Jude Law was the young version of Tom Wilkinson, the writer who interviews F. Murray Abraham about his adventures alongside Ralph Finnes (the lead) when he was a young man and he hasn’t been called again for another role!

Yes, but not because of the money or the awards, but because he gets to do the things he really enjoys and has fun while doing them.

Yes, but not because of the money or the awards, but because he gets to do the things he really enjoys and has fun while doing them. Also, he did this all himself, made himself into a respected thespian, a godlike movie star (😍), in demand all around the world. He built that out of almost nothing. Sure his parents were in the biz, but as jobbing actors, it’s not like he was the son of Marlon Brando or Jimmie Stewart or Elizabeth Taylor. He worked hard and got there through talent, perseverance, and a winning personality. I just wondered what he himself thinks (not that we’ll ever know). Does he have regrets? Things he’d still like to do or develop? What’s his definition of success and how does he measure himself against his own scale?

Remember an old interview with Matthew Goode, probably during TIG? He said that he and Benedict had been friends for years, and Benedict would go over to visit Matthew and complain that he would never get a job. Ha - look how that turned out!

TBF the joke was that he was always working so Goode was perplexing why he considered himself "unemployed" just because he had just finished something and didn't went immediately to another job like he usually did and do!

I think that’s why Benedict has said that he treats every job like it’s his first - and his last. He doesn’t take it for granted that more jobs will come along, even after all this time and all his fame.
